Not a very good indicator but the Ferrari flies right past the McL, and it was Kimi driving, so he was likely to be pissed too, as we can see from this picture from testing last year...

  • not F1 I know but can sneak this in...

congrats to Sebby Loeb, his latest win lifted his career victory tally to a record 50 races — 20 more than his nearest rival

  • Sounds like a good driver. But if it's not F1, what does he drive?

  • He's in rally at the minute, but he did test for Red Bull F1 a few months back and he was pretty close to the top, he also won the ROC this year, so he's pretty handy behind the wheel =P

  • Pos Driver Team Time Laps

    1. Alonso Renault (B) 1:18.343 103
    2. Barrichello Brawn-Mercedes (B) 1:18.398 62
    3. Button Brawn-Mercedes (B) 1:18.892 12
    4. Hamilton McLaren-Mercedes (B) 1:19.513 85
    5. Rosberg Williams-Toyota (B) 1:19.783 123

So Alonso was quickest in testing today. If I had to put money on who's going to win the 2009 Driver's Championship I'd go for Fernando. The Renault seems to be quick enough, with a pace comparable to its late-season 2008 form rather than the poor early-season lack of pace. And if Alonso is in contention I'd back him to out-race any of his rivals.

  • Was a little surprised at Alfonso topping the sheets today, with all the fuss Briatore was kicking up about the other teams' aero packages bending the rules, fingers crossed the Renault is right up there, he's always been one of my favourite driversand I would love to see him competing for the WDC.

  • be interesting with all the rule changes and different aero packages'n'shit.

i still reckon the racing is more interesting in MotoGP though. F1 is a sport for tyre-kickers and engineers more than spectators i reckon.

To be honest I pretty much agree with you there, apart from the technical side the only reason i'm such a big fan is because it's so widely publicised, if A1GP was better advertised and got rid of the silly boost buttons (like KERS) i'd definitely prefer watching that (plus it's one of the few circuit championships that the Irish are pretty decent at =P).

Though there is still something about F1, the competition between the worlds best car manufacturers and Renault, on top of that the history that goes with it, and the noise of course =P

  • yeah F1 has its attractions, but these don't generally include closely fought racing.

    the noise... fuck me!

  • Fingers crossed the lack of turbulance this year will provide some great battles.

"Meanwhile, fuel loads used by each driver in qualifying will now be easier to determine, with the FIA having pledged to publish the weight of every car immediately after qualifying"

Oh FFS! What a load of crap, just means people will overtake less, why risk an accident when you know the guy in front is gonna pit in a few laps?!

    http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/73744

Honestly, what, the, fuck, is going on with these people?! Was set for the best F1 season in a long time and then they come along and fuck everything up?!

Here's hoping that nazi dwarf combo fuck off very, very soon.

  • I like the wins rule, means that drivers will compete fully for EVERY race, second is the first loser! Will only affect the teams at the top, assuming there are no unexpected victories from underdog teams.

  • forcing drivers to talk to the media is average though, as is publishing the weight of each car after Q3.

  • Publishing the weight is a load of crap, does away with part of the tactical side and like I said, reduces overtaking, the wins idea I still think is a load of crap, say one guy wins 8 races and the rest are DNFs, he beats a guy with 7 wins and the rest second places? It's a load of crap, keep the points but make a bigger gap between the first 3rd places, something like:

    1st - 15
    2nd - 10
    3rd - 8
    4th - 6
    5th - 5

and so on, makes you want to challange for high places without this crap wins only rule.

  • Here's hoping that nazi dwarf combo fuck off very, very soon.

    TTID--Godwin's Law. ;)

  • Well Hitler was a guest of honour at his parents' wedding =P

  • ha, average = load of crap :)

I think you're right though, a bigger points difference would serve the same effect and be a little fairer. Still, "say one guy wins 8 races and the rest are DNFs, he beats a guy with 7 wins and the rest second places?" - go hard or go home ;P

  • Looks like Hamilton may walk it this season when McLaren get thier car sorted, he can secure a few wins while Kimi and Massa are fighting it out, not like Hamilton has a competitive team mate.

I still can't believe they're going ahead with this, I heard about it a while back and just thought it was a load of crap.

  • Why are you lot all talking about cars in a phone thread, anyway?

  • He's right that they'll adjust to the new regulations but there was really nothing wrong with the points system being used, i'd be less against it if it were every man for himself, most wins gets the championship, but I bet we'll see a lot of team orders this year as a result and of course people will start kicking up about that again, here's hoping we'll have a great season anyway.

  • WTF i have no idea what you are on about - it's great.

But i have worked with F1 teams and love the way their garages are spotless. other than that it's noise and toys

  • Neither do we, we're just talking a load of crap, join in =D

Or just go look at pictures of the grid girls...

You know you wanna start a new thread...

  • Out of all the people he should be happy with the new rules, they'll benefit those with significantly weaker team mates, most obvious case of that is at McLaren.
