It's a great day for British racing!
+1
I loved that montage of past British champions they just played, lovely stuff. -

I wouldn't say great... Id say controversial .
congrats to Button regardless.
Duncan, your digs about Kimi and Nascar are ridiculous , you might want to investigate his lap times before making such uniformed remarks

Button totally deserves that championship for all the work he did last year in the shit car, developing this year's and for driving so well and so consistently. Loved Ross Brawn being too emotional to speak when he was interviewed. Good to see the lads back in Brackley getting such a reward for their dedication and hard work.
And I bet Honda are feeling sick. Ha.

YASSSSSS!
All I'm sayin'.

I kinda wish we got some rain though.

I'm a bit of a formula 1 philistine but why was Buttons winning controversial? Is it because of the legality issues with Brawns car?
-
• #1408
One great thing about Button wrapping up the WDC, at Abu Dhabi everyone can just go 100% and we should see a fantastic race.

I'm going to defend Kimi, but only this once - he's a good racer, but his motivation sometimes goes missing.
Hamilton looked like he came last place and his car caught fire crossing the finish line, rather than a creditable third.
It's tough losing a championship I guess. Anyway, he's young so there's plenty more opportunties for him.
Next year's prediction? I wouldn't count out Alonso. But Ferrari won't be a happy camp. It'll be like Hamilton vs Alonso all over again. I don't think Massa has any idea how ruthless Alonso is. There will be a war in that camp.

I'm seriously looking forward to next season nevermind the next race!
Kimi is a fantastic driver, you can't deny that however he does have motivation issues, as it has been said time, after time, after time.
Hamilton won't be that disappointed, he knew he wasn't gonna be champion long ago.
I'm thinking Alonso is gonna go to Ferrari with a similar attitude to Kimi, thinking he can just walk over Massa and being surpised at his pace.
I'm betting for a Ferrari champ next season.

I think a Ferrari car could easily be champion next season, but I wonder if the resources will be stretched too much between two front-running cars. Schumi was the defacto numero uno there, and that was rock solid. What will they do if Massa and Alonso are similarly matched? I think Alonso will take some time to get accustomed with the very different way thr Ferrari drives. But when he does, he may be faster than Massa. It'll be interesting if nothing else.

it wasnt Button per se.. it was the entire season, the controversy surrounding the cars and the rule changes... all the issues with KERS and the bad management and lies - the false crashes etc..etc..etc...
its the 1st season since the early 70's that Ferrari failed... there is a reason for that.
I just dont think it was a clean season, as I say, Button won and I congrats him.

I think there will definitely be a bias towards Massa for the first few races within the team, like at McL Alonso will have to deal with coming to a new team and accustomising himself to how the team works, they won't change for him.

False crashes were so last season =P
Personally I loved the shake-up in the rules, of course McL and Ferrari were disadvantaged as they got the least time to work on their car but it made for a great season, plus with Massa going out halfway, it shows just how good Massa and Kimi are to be able to tame that car, it's very similar to Stoner on his Ducati, very difficult to master, but pretty quick if you can.
-
• #1415
of course, you HAD to bring Stoner into it, didnt you!
you over Melandri already? :)
-
• #1416
It is a very relevant comparison =P
Both even have "Marlboro" sponsorship, Stoner even let that slip this weekend, d'oh!
Did you see the Meladri/seagull interface? Messy!
-
• #1417
really ? Marlboro sponsorship? I thought that was a big no no?
nope, I need a damn good catch up. Clearly
-
• #1418
Ducati/Ferrari still have it, just not officially, that's what the big barcode is for.
-
• #1419
Can somebody explain to me why the Yahama team is sponsored by FIAT....who in turn own Ducati, which Stoner won with?
-
• #1420
Fiat's involvement in the team has always confused me, never really looked into it though, shall try and find some info on that soon.

I like Damon Hill, because he's a bit of a motorcyclist. Not that I motorcycle, but he worked as a courier for Hornets, as did I.....but I was a pushie. Tenuous connection I'm afraid. But I was happier to see Dashing Damon as World Champion, rather than Moaning Mansell. Does that make me a bad person?
-
• #1422
Yes, liking Hill more than Mansell would be punishable by death in my world =P
However, this always puts a big smile on my face:

• #1423
Kimi is a unmotivated looser. Fact!

As much as I hate saying it, I loved seeing Kobayashi shoot past Fisi!
