But the bad news is that he may in all probability, never race F1 again. He'd be hard to insure for one, and cerebral injuries, especially concussion, are problematic in the future. They cut some bone away from his skull, to relieve pressure on a contusion. He also has a rather serious eye injury, though this will improve in a shorter time than his skull trauma.
Maybe he'll get a job like Schumi, as an advisor.
For Kimi, it means the whoile team will be focussed on him, and that will give him a real chance of winning a few races. The motivation throughout the team will take a real jump, as they'll all want to do something to make Felipe feel better.
I wish him a speedy and full recovery.

Theres more talk in camp of Schumi finishing up the season. Would be great to see Kimi and Schumi as team mates, albeit temporary
I really hope Massa can race again, hes one of the most consistent and determined drivers and has done Ferrari proud, if anyone deserves WC, its him.
Everything crossed that he'll back it back for 2010

Marc Gene is supposedly doing straight line pit-stop tests (they're not allowed to do full test this season), so most people think it's going to be him that's given the drive.
It would be great if Schumi does get the offer. Keep us updated if you hear anymore news from Ferrari. -

+1, but I hope he does race again...

me too. He fully deserves WC after the last 2 seasons. Ferrari have given him their bad luck, it seems, it would be a shame not to see him race again.

I'm pretty sure Massa will be back for the start of next season at the latest, he should make a full recovery and the only reason there's no definite news on his eye as of yet is because it hasn't opened fully so they can't test, but i'm sure they guy will make a full recovery and will be back in an F1 car next season.
And everyone, cross your fingers for Schumi taking Massa's seat until then =P

BMW are going to pull out of next year's championship. Hopefully this will mean that Prodrive will be able to get a place on the grid.

Was super lucky it the spring hit his helmet, would have been a slightly different story if it had hit his visor straight on . . . no more Massa me thinks.
Properly freaky accident and a black mark on a very strange season.
Be interested if MS can make any ground up for the red team.
update on Massa's recovery... wonderful news ...
On Monday a Hungarian Defence Ministry spokesman reported that Massa is now able to communicate ‘actively’ and can move his hands and legs, suggesting that he has not suffered significant brain damage.
"He's woken up (from sedation) more and more often now and he's able to communicate actively, that is, he reacts when he's talked to,“We are optimistic - in our hope a slow recovery is beginning."
