  • Because it will be called "Sulky Luca and Flash Flavios super duper racer series thread"

Breakaway will be worse thing that could happen, max need to go, Ferrari need to HTFU, and Flavio needs to fuck off back to italy with his harem of coke whores

Yes, that's exactly what we need, however, he won't go, so that's why the breakaway series has been formed, if it's succesful, F1 will die out and the breakaway series will replace it, I don't see the negative side to that.

  • Very interested to see how this pans out.
Interesting that all the teams are together on this, along with the drivers.

  • I'm not gonna pay any attention to any of the crap to do with the split, it's such a shame that the most interesting part of the sport is the politics behind it, at least Moto GP isn't like that =P

  • Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

  • Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

    +1

If they brought back H-Gate gearboxes that would definitely make it more entertaining, and turbos, can't beat a 1.5l 1,400bhp grenade engine =D

someones got you rightly hooked ;)

  • someones got you rightly hooked ;)

And if I get addicted to the point of gambling on it, i'll be coming to them for compesnation =P

P.S. Can the title of this be changed to something like "F1/MotoGP thread" so we're not going off topic and we don't have to go through the mass hatred of starting a Moto GP one, even though they're bikes they're neither fixed nor single speed =P

  • Im not sure you can now? might have to message David and ask... or use the search link?

I think everyone realizes now its here to stay and just like any other sport or misc topic.

  • ...or...it could evoke a rebellion....

    good luck! :P

  • I've been thinking for a while now, on what the proposed break-away franchise could call itself. What about Grand Prix Racing? The phrase Grand Prix is part of the French language and cannot be copyrighted. Their are many Grand Prix, such as in horse-racing, but it is recognisable, and catchy.

Now, how do I get in touch with FOTA and claim my prize. Uh, Prix?

Claim my Prix? That can't be right. ;)

  • I'm pretty sure it would go back to Grand Prix World Championship which is what it was before F1, much better title than F1 I think, F1 sounds to dull whereas GPWC makes you think back to the days of gentleman racers, of course you could argue that going back to GPWC will taint the image that it had but I won't be arguing that =P

  • Maybe they could get the drivers to run to their cars, then start them? :)

Yeah, bring back tweed racing apparel, and leather helmets.

  • ***Maybe they could get the drivers to run to their cars, then start them? :) ***

Yeah, bring back tweed racing apparel, and leather helmets.

Thankfully there are still some endurance races that start like this, however with F1 cars not having starter motors I can't see it happening, unless they build a starting ramp at all the circuits and let all the drivers run to their cars at the top of the ramp and bump start them down the ramp =P

Can't see leather helmets passing impact tests or tweed fire retarding tests though =P

  • ahhh 1973.... I wasnt even born but I would listen to the stories of what a great time in history that was.

  • ahhh 1973....

Please, please recognise the huge amount of self-restraint i'm exhibiting in not posting a video of the James Blunt video.

  • its in your best interest not to... for all our sakes :P

I disagree--I think F1 is a very good piece of branding. It really is a very grippy and convenient phrase. That F1 itself may have got duller over the years (I wouldn't know that it had, it's just what I seem to be picking up from this thread's comparisons to motorcycle racing) doesn't make a difference to that, I think, although, of course, if the declining quality of the product has cheapened the brand, it may be time for a re-branding..

  • a video of the James Blunt video.

Why a video of a video?

  • ^ sshh its the baileys double talking :)

There's a few good shows on BBC4 tonight if anyone's interested:

20.00 Jackie Stewart : The flying Scot

21.30 Jim Clark: The quiet champion

    22.30 Graham Hill: Driven

23.30 Cobra Ferarri wars: profile of Caroll Shelby

    00.30 In search of speed

  • Victoria Pendleton on the F1 grid, nice fixed/motorsport crossover there =D

  • Massa from 11th to 4th on a circuit not really known for it's overtaking, good to see him making his way up the grid, unlike his tipsy team-mate who slid down a few places =P

  • Also in World Superbikes, fellow (Northern for all the pedants) Irishman Johnny Rea won =D

P.S. Can't say Johnny Rea without thinking of Dexy's Midnight Runners ><

  • it was good to see Vettel take podium, must have been tough Button not winning on home turf, boohoo never mind, excuses get you no where Mr JB..

best driver for the day... Massa, he deserves WC that boy ...Italians always do it best! :p

  • Johnny Rea? I thought you swung to the Aussies :p
