  • cool route, especially since it starts and finishes in throwing distance of my front door.

this sunday might be tricky bit if you're thinking of making it regular, count me in for future rides.

good choice of the Flask, too, for afters-ales and grub. LOVE the idea of lots of anarcho-punk fixed wheelers gate-crashing the no.1 Sunday lunch venue of Merc-driving, Rolex-wearing Highgate & Hampstead high-rollers.

    nice!

We go to the flask every tuesday for north drinks. Come on up!

  • i might be in for this, is it really hilly?

There are about 3 or 4 tough hills on this ride. They are all doable though. There are also a couple of steep down hills that are be tricky brakeless (the worst bing down from Ally Pally). This ride is really nice though.

  • im out im gonna go on a night ride instead

  • amazing day - going to be great out riding this afternoon. nicest day of the year so far!!

  • My morning stroll in wood green was t-shirt-tastic.

  • That was fun
Great to meet some forum peeps at last

  • nice ride, great roads. good ale. ace.

We should do this again. I'll bring more money so I can drink more ale at the end, the ESB in the flask was a hearty reward.

    Great to meet you all

  • What a lovely ride - perfect weather, great route and very good company. Thanks all, and particularly Texas for leading the way.

  • yea good ride. next sunday ?

  • What a thoroughly splendid afternoon that was. Strong work all round, and thanks Texas for sorting it out.

  • yep again for sure. good to meet you all, beers well deserved.

the most random thing of the day was:

The large Obelisk in Trent Park was brought from Wrest Park by Sir Philip Sassoon in 1934 in order to impress the Duke and Duchess of Kent, honeymooning at the estate.

(should have guessed that someone had put it there to impress a girl!).

  • Great afternoon out! Good choice with the route Texas and well navigated. I'm in for the next one once my bike is Fixed.

  • and maybe gav will bring the iro rather than that 'geared' thingy....
summer felt like it is coming closer at last- until people were shivering at the pub later on (especially andy)

Yeah when I got home I found the IRO watching a rom com in a darkened room, eating ice cream directly out of the tub...

  • what an extremely generous offer, I hope you don't mind if I take you up on it in the near future...

now the weather's better I'm planning doing regular big rides in the evenings, so on Tuesdays I'm thinking of combining with a stop at the Flask on the way home, say 9.30-10ish - assuming you'd still be there that time?

We go to the flask every tuesday for north drinks. Come on up!

  • sounds like y'all had a a blast - so will there be a repeat some other Sunday soon? also, is it a strictly fixed affair, or could one (if one wished) to plump for a freewheelin' SS steed, or even one of those bikes with different sized cogs at the back, without facing too much ridicule?

  • I wonder what Romereo is up to. Not competed this year?

    um wrong thread

  • Damn I missed this - do it again - do it again!

answer to the first bit is yes - probably next weekend if the weather is looking fine.

strictly fixed - no. though some ridicule may need to be tolerated but you can always ridicule me back about my plastic wheel. the ride is pretty good on fixed - not too many sharp hills but just enough to keep you enterained.

  • cripes! just realised, in case you were planning a repeat - coming Sunday is mother's day, which rules me out. botheration.

  • think that rules most out - therefore doubt we'll do it again this week.

  • I'm in for the week after this. I loved this ride.

  • Aw man didn't see this thread - this route goes right past my house. I'm down if it is happening again.

  • ok so seems people are keen and i am so lets go Sunday 29th March 2009.

    Same place - Archway tube
    Same time - 3pm
    Same route

    1. Texas
