London polo in the New York Times!
http://globespotters.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/07/28/riding-bikes-not-horses-in-these-polo-matches/
Games take place several times throughout the week, at several off-the-beaten-path locations. In South London, games happen from 7 p.m. until sundown on Wednesdays at Newington Gardens, off of Harper Road (Southwark, SE1; Elephant & Castle tube stop); and in North London, from 7 p.m. to sundown on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Downham Road and Ufton Road, near Islington in DeBeauvior (N1, 20-minute walk from Angel tube stop, Northern Line), and also at a court about a mile north on a small street called Mitchison Road in Islington (N1, 15-minute walk from Highbury & Islington tube stop, Victoria Line).
An astonishing level of detail for the New York Times that is sure to stimulate polo tourism. ;)

Yep, that's the winner. A second place has to be "Ray polo gusto." Everyone one I posted is an actual anagram of Yorgo Tloupas (the inventor of bike polo).
Reckon the back of the Yorgo shirt should read "Us at polo orgy"
Should we start a list for those who want that shirt?

OK I have to warn you guys that the BBC girl last night forced me to rephrase my very long explanation from something that went like ***"Polo was played in london 5 years ago by a group of bike messengers including my teammate mike but it didn't really pick up enough momentum (...), then in the late cold winter of 2006 I went to new york city for (...) and I met zach and brad from (...) and i played there (...) and then the internet helped us in London to find a court (...) in Brick Lane and we built mallets from (....) and then we started palying on different courts (...) etc..." ***to a more succint "Hi, I am Yorgo, and I brought Bike Polo to London"

But Yorgo - I told them that you and I invented polo, we must get our story straight

You guys are a bunch of silly fuckers. You will make more noise and mess than chimps at a zoo whilst polo is playing, but revert to acting like shy teenagers, mumbling and staring at your feet when a camera is pullled out. The response was much like the first time Wigan Will turned up to polo last summer.
The result is that last night I ended up giving the BBC commentary/explanation of polo, yet as you know I am a stupid cunt who does not even play the damn game. I only ref as it has the potential to make a grown hipster cry when the decision goes against them.
