  • Based on the notion of degree confluence points and London being so close to the 0 Meridian here is a proposal for a ride from 52°,0° to 51°,0°

Will work out an exact route, it will certainly include Greenwich, any suggestions are welcome. It is roughly 80mi and there the options to have a feeder ride to the start confluence point, take the train to Stansted or Royston, finish at the sea... There is also the possibility to peel off or join the ride in London. The start being so close Cambridge and the finish close to Brighton would make it easy for riders to join form B and C.

UPDATE - only 0.5 degree south to Confluence Point 51/0
As I have to be back in London by 18:00 on Saturday but I dont want to ditch the ride completly I would do only the second leg Route Map. There is a print flyout on the right hand side of the site, will alos complie a direction sheet.
Metting Saturday at the Royal Inn 8:45 am, Victoria Park (East Drinks) for a 9:00 take off. We will go through Greenwich pedaterian tunnel and by the observatory (That is where the Route Map starts) The course is a bit hilly but perfectly doable fixed. I leave the last bit to Brighton and/or possible ride back to London optional at the moment. A suggestion for a flat ride in Brighton along this route. Could also tackle Dicthling Beacon depending how people feel.

'Twill be good for you to see some decent football.

  • Great idea for a ride. NB slight detour required along the A10 Rectory Road owing to Stoke Newington one-way mess.

  • Bump! It has been quiet but it dosent mean it wont happen.
Here is the route from http://www.bikemap.net/route/165912
These two legs are almost equal in length, roughly 75k each. The first one being flat and the second one rolling with 2-3 climbs. The interactive profile on the maps gives it away. The route is not finalised yet. I am still optimistic to make it all the way to Brighton. Half way stop at East Drinks and possible pick-up some joiners for the second part, continue thorugh Grenwich pedastrian tunnel and Grenwich Park.
There are regular train services from Kings Cross to Royston would opt for one that **departs 07:52 **and arrives 08:36. As mentioned in the OP would be great to see it would be great to have people from Cambridge/Brighton.
Will include all these details and meeting poinst in OP.

  • i'm on holiday for this too. :(

  • But at least it's a holiday you're really gonna...
    Oh no...
    wait a minute.

    • sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet
  • i might be up for this.
one of the legs at least.

  • I'm keen on this but I have to hope my road bike arrives by then....

  • UPDATE: have a look at the OP. change of start location and time. route shortened...

  • Updated list, anyone?

    I'm still in.
