    perfect execution

  • punching his mirror off.

How hard is it to actually do that?

  • Having completely destroyed a mirror with my shoulder, I'd say not so hard. I did have the help of a door-opening taxi passenger, ofc, so can't claim all the credit.

  • How hard is it to actually do that?

Not very, I've done it once when I left-hooked and went down the side of the car. Doesn't hurt as much as you'd think. (Didn't actually punch it - just kept riding through with hands on bars)

  • How hard is it to actually do that?

All I'd really say is have good gloves on otherwise use your arm. My knuckles hurt for a bit but they're all good now.

  • How hard is it to actually do that?

I once had a car over take me and hit me on the ass (or leg) with its wing mirror . When I caught up to him, the driver refused to apologise and eventually stated that I had damaged his car! I saw red at point and hit the mirror in question with my palm, it exploded really dramatically. I felt a lot better after that.

  • Nodder.

  • and proud

  • Tons of loose stones and gravel on the roads last night. Was a hairy ride home kept thinking id puncture!

  • ... stated that I had damaged his car! I saw red at point and hit the mirror in question with my palm, it exploded really dramatically.

"that's me damaging your car, see the difference ?"

  • ^And nice high-vis shoes so we can see legs flailing about more clearly!

  • I nearly got run over by a left turning HGV as a pedestrian last night. Fucking scary.

A huge Royal Mail lorry wae indicating to turn left at a crossroads. I noted that it was going to turn and stepped back a full ten feet from the kerb just in case it mounted the pavement.

It did. The rear wheels came further than ten feet over the kerb and in a matter of seconds I had to find an escape route as there was a fence behind me. The driver had no idea that I was there.

If there was an elderly person or somebody not paying attention there instead of me it would have been curtains. Shat me right up.

  • WTF?
To a large extent I think that it is a legal responsibility for lorry drivers to check that there is nothing on their inside, indicate, check again, then make their manouevre in the knowledge lthat the inside is clear .

    ftfy

  • Heading north and rounding the corner where Grange St becomes Bermondsey St this morning, a skip lorry heading south flings it round the corner causing 2 bricks to fly from the skip and smash on the ground between my wheels. That was a close call!

Christ. Glad you're ok. Will you be letting Royal Mail know?

  • But when going onto the pavement there is no excuse or debate at all - the driver should be checking constantly that no-one is there.

  • Christ. Glad you're ok. Will you be letting Royal Mail know?

They were out, so he left them a red postcard.

  • I'm going to give them a call in a bit. I don't think there is a way for a lorry that size to turn safely on that junction. I was watching the maneuver and the driver used all the space available to him...and obviously quite a lot more.

It is seriously scary how quickly a turning lorry can encroach on you. It has certainly given me a new perspective on how quickly you can end up on the wheels of one if you are in the wrong place.

  • Your fault for not wearing a helmet. Did you by any chance happen to be wearing headphones too?

  • Whats wearing a helmet got to do with a lorry running you over?

  • Last time I am going to be a pedestrian I can tell you...

I've seen a shocking amount of drivers ignoring people on pedestrian crossings recently, and have nearly been ran over a couple time myself while crossing side roads. At least on a bike I've got lights, peds don't have anything.

  • ^^^ I bet you're not even licensed or insured.
