Did he have passengers?

Pushing up a long ramp today with a couple of cars in front of me.
In the other lane a queue of cars were waiting to go round a large yellow digger taking up the whole lane.Just as I was approaching the digger (10m), the cars in front of me sped off and a man in a hard hat riding the digger stood up.
This man waved a shitty green flag on a stick to the cars waiting to overtake him.
Now given the all clear, a torrent of shiny 4x4s (stock in trade for rich wanky Nairobians) poured round the side of this digger and accelerated straight towards me.
Each one had the same Oh Shit moment, i.e. saw little-old-me grinding up the ramp towards them and then took an evasive swerve.I guess I could have always leaped off the side of the road.
The annoying thing is that even when I'd passed the digger, the oncoming traffic had filled both lanes as they raced each other to get past the digger, as they'd all probably been queueing and this green flag was a chance to get to work on time as long as they just ignore the fact they might squash someone.

I'm guessing not. Unless he is a complete nutcase.

Bellend of the day goes to the drive of the 159 bus giving every cyclist on his route an oh shit moment by overtaking them then cutting them up at every bus stop on his route. Also passed me ridiculously close when I was negotiating the pot holes under the railway bridge in Lambeth/Waterloo.

I would never suggest you push emergency engine stop button on the bus, as this will not anger them at all or leave them unable to chase you.
-
• #2582
^ Not sure if serious.
Either you're suggesting pushing buttons outright, or you're speaking from personal experience about how a bus driver angrily chased you.
-
• #2583
You could argue the toss that if the driver is clearly so batshit that he is using his bus as a weapon, then an "emergency" is constituted such as to necessitate "engine stop".

Solution 99% of the time
Buses can't U-turn/turn on most roads. So if he keeps doing OS moments roll up on his window. Smack that bus up and cross over where possible or stop at a traffic light island and note his License plate number and time. Always keep calm and ignore anything he is saying. Just Humm a tune or act like you can't hear or see him while you note his details.
Personal Preferred method: Smack that bus up and ride. Makes good cat and mouse riding but block his route so he is unable to overtake/undertake. LOL. Use at your own risk

what does 'smack that bus up' mean exactly?
-
• #2586
Oh a really good one also
is smack the bus and shout out "Oi Use your head". Dunno why but it makes people hesitate and ponder for a split second when executed right.
However if you have ridden with me you know my personal favourite is the Bird Call.

Approach the driver side window of the bus and smack a few times to get his attention. You can also start smacking just before getting there along the bus drive facing side. This gets their attention. Also gloves enable for a more forceful smack.

I think someone needs to smack your head up a bit, if you think hitting a vehicle is a good idea. What impression of cyclists does that give the driver? After all, all cyclists are the same aren't they?
You might get away, but they might be pent-up with road rage and take out their frustrations on another cyclist or road user.

Your choice to react in any way you choose but I don't think anyone would be ignorant enough to say the action of one makes all guilty/same.
If they do take it out on other cyclists they were crazy to begin with and deserved probably a lot more than I gave them.

The problem is some people are ignorant enough to think that way. Take the high ground.

I have met many people who have said "the trouble is you all jump the lights" when I tell them I'm a cyclist

The keyword being Ignorant.
Doesn't mean that the "one is responsible for all" view doesn't exist. It just means only Ignorant people hold that across all walks of life.
Politics, Social, Religious etc.

But I'll be damned if I let anyone pollute my beloved fixed gear community.
