I hope you did get his number. The fact that he did not want you to get it, is a sure sign that you should. I am thinking this guy did not want the police to arrive because he was drunk or not insured or some such. Now he has left without leaving his details, effectively that is failing to stop at the scene of an accident, which is pretty serious. As people have said above, write everything down, before you forget the details, and make sure you report it. This guy is driving around carelessly (at least, and maybe drunk and/or not insured), and it is a matter of time before someone gets hurt... if you report him and help get him off the road you are doing everyone a favour.

  • and it is a matter of time before someone else gets hurt...

  • I found myself circling the roundabout for a second attempt.

The worst part is that nobody broke any traffic laws. It's just a crap system.

Are you allowed to cycle across the middle ?

    +1 this.

The police get a lot of stick for not doing anything about bad/uninsured/illegal drivers, but they need you to report it before they can act. Although without a number plate i'm not sure what can be done..

  • Are you allowed to cycle across the middle ?

You can cycle to the middle, stop, have an exhibitionist wee, throw rocks at passing cars and merrily go on your way, because the few police you might see are easily paid off for bribes of about £10.

Mob justice would see you instantly lynched you if you stole anything, though.

    Indeed. I stand corrected.

  • Just saw a nurse riding to work wearing a fluro jacket have a lorry drive into the side of her. I thought it was going to end badly but surprisingly she stayed upright. Lorry driver was probably looking for cars coming towards him and I doubt he stopped at the junction before pulling out.

    Lucky

  • Witness statement?

  • Neither of them stopped.

  • When you live to tell about a close encounter with a lorry you don't waste any time; it's straight to the nearest casino!

  • Knobend definite-banker-type in black range rover on Great Suffolk Street.
Gets a little frustrated that he has to do 18mph for all of 20 seconds.

Revs up, overtakes 4 cyclists at speed by jamming it up the oncoming lane. Realises there's an approaching vehicle (who'd have thought?). Shits himself. Cuts back into lane at speed, narrowly avoiding the leading cyclist. But has to swerve hard to avoid a parked RoyalMail van in a bay to the left. Fails to avoid and clips wing mirror on wing mirror.

Receives middle fingers from everybody. WAC.
Registration: YG61 XF[forgot the last digit]

  • Didn't the driver stop?

  • I found two black range rovers with that partial before I got bored.

  • Nope, just kept going.

Crafty, what are you using to lookup?

  • https://www.vehiclecheck.co.uk I got to D.

    and

    If you google http://www.vregs.com/registration/INSERTPARTIALHERE

It should give you a lit of available plates.

  • Reg number plus model is enough to check their tax disc status at DVLA's website.

  • Gotcha thanks. Seems like they're all 2011 Range Rovers for that partial, which doesn't narrow it down at all.

  • Yep which is why I stopped.

  • Well, thanks for the headsup for future reference.

  • Black range rover in central london. The driver being a cock is near certainty.

  • Annnddd I'm paranoid.

  • At first he was trying to be polite and nice, but after I asked him if I could write down his plate he stood in front of it and kept asking what I want it for. He started to be more nervous, so I told him im gonna call police, but he kept saying ''what for, if you are hurt call an ambulance''. I didnt know what to do so I called my brother for an advice. I told him to either give me his name and contact number or I'll call the police. He just didnt want to police to arrive.

In a meantime when I was on the phone with my brother, he got in his car and drove away.

I bet he had no insurance/disqualified/no VED, it's a dead giveaway given how he acted. If he was drunk he would have just driven away and tried to sober up somewhere, you really need to get the police onto this. ideally you should have called the police the moment he drove away to report a hit and run, they would have been there pretty swiftly.

You need to get check out by a doctor too, shock and adrenaline are wonderful painkillers which often hide injuries. As mentioned before write down everything you remember right away.

  • Thank you guys for all advices! Appreciate that!
So far what I know, guy is insured, my front Aerospok is really cracked in hub area, so I took it off my bike. Will keep it as an evidence, after that it can go to bin.
Nitto bars a bit bended, grips scrateched, few scratches on my back wheel...

Already sorting it out with insurance company and will fill the police form...

    Will keep you updated!

  • So you got his plate then. I thought he nipped off before you wrote it down.

  • Yeah, I managed to write it down. Just his name a contact number I couldnt get out of him.
