Surprised to see that Paola Pezzo hasn't had a mention yet - one of the best cross country riders ever, 2 times Olympic champion
Multiple World champion, European Champion and World Cup winner.
Used to insist on having a full length zip on her Italian team jersey, and got more publicity for the sport than anyone else as a result. Used to model Northwave shoes back in the day - I always remember those adverts in MBUK.... made much more of an impact on me as an impressionable youth than wearing a pirahna round your neck...

+1

I also like the fact that Cycling Weekly has been showing a video ad for a while now on its website - not just women realted stories - for Veet. The tag line "What beauty feels like" is perhaps not the most appropriate.

"Dinky" Wilson - allround cycling fiend, and good person. Rides a recumbent everywhere, and does a Dunwich Dynamo "double", most years. She does a recee, and puts out candle to help light the way there, then does the DD proper, mopping up lost stragglers. And....., she used to race quite a bit on her Ratcatcher, and was British Women's Champion (recumbents) in one year.

How is Denise?
She always lapped me at the Eastway when the Tuesday Tens were held there. I think that's a picture of here riding there on what will now be part of the Velodrome.I also remember her on the DD, lying in her the recumbent with the red glow of a fag in the dark....

Total Legend.

Oh, did she beat NC? I wasn't following it.
What's going on with NC? She's had so much bad luck in the last year or two.

Just looked up the report:
http://www.cyclingnews.com/races/british-road-championships-ne/elite-womens-road-race/results
Race shortened to 48k? That's hardly a racing distance. Well done to Emma Pooley nonetheless.

Harriet Fell (Sheldon Brown's missus) has some pretty incredible achievements on and off a bike, but her account of the 1975 Paris-Brest-Paris is nothing short of inspirational.
Hi
Found this. The video sucks a bit but the blonde girl (in white) trick at the beginning ofthe video is funny:
