Barney, passed away today. We had 13 1/2 years of fun. He was almost 16.

Really sorry to read this. Was he one of the dogs that I met when we went swimming? I hope you're holding up okay.

Had a knock on the door earlier this evening, a pair of kids outside saying 'Mister, there is a snake in your garden!'
So I now (I think) have a Corn snake for the evening until I go to the vets tomorrow morning. Must be a local escapee as I don't live in the Southern United States.

Wanted to get an Owl but strongly decided against it after the smallest bit of research, I won't be able to look after it properly and give it what it deserves. Best leave it to the experts.
So now i'm thinking of getting a duck, more specifically a duckling. Any advice? I have a pond in the garden, a massive outdoor cage protected from the elements and a smaller one indoors. I've looked after a few generations of chickens before but it's been a wile.

What happened with the snake? Were you right? Did it turn out to be something highly venomous that keeeelled you?

There was a recent discussion about ducks, keeping of, in the gardening thread a few weeks ago: http://www.lfgss.com/conversations/176057/?offset=625

Brought theses two cuties home. Fed, bathed and blow dried (ducklings still haven't developed waterproofing abilities) and ready for bed.

Nowhere near willmellings efforts but I've been seeing this fox around for a good few months. I'm on a block of residential streets (probably 20 or 30 within half a mile) but I think it was born round here as I keep seeing it. I was home watching tv (after a few drinks I must admit) when I heard it in the road squawking. Zoom lens, streetlights and a bit pissed don't make for the best picture but I'm happy to have finally caught it (I kept seeing it as I walked home after a night out)
As a bonus, I was sticking my head out of the window taking pictures and got talking to the woman across the road who was wondering where the dreadful screaming was coming from.

Just went to the Marshes (Walthamstow) thinking I could take a forum suitable picture of Ted* looking spry and jaunty. Unfortunately, he trod on a bee and had to be taken straight to the vet so here he is looking fed up in his favourite spot on the back of the sofa instead. Massive balloon foot not in shot.
Poor boy.

Only just seen your post. :(
He looks angelic in this picture! Those gorgeous eyes and lovely coat.
I hope you're coping with your loss? Good innings but it's always so terribly sad.

Poor chap. I reckon it's a forum suitable photo anyway :)
But does she ever react like this?
