^ Saw this earlier today. I love Simon's Cat!

I love that he does all the sounds himself. My cat and my sisters' cat react to it.

OK I'm pretty sure it's a bite now, having had a look at it - it appears to have a small scab/puncture wound on it. I'm going to keep an eye on it over the next couple of days. It doesn't bother him at all though he laid on his back and purred whilst I inspected it earlier.
Found a scabby lump on our cat's leg that she wasn't bothered about me prodding and poking but I wasn't happy and it turned out to be a bite or cut that had got infected. Vet gave it a clean out and some antibiotocs just as a precacution.
She then had a way nastier looking huge swelling at the base of her tail over Xmas that made it almost look like it was broken or something but it disappeared completely within a week. Tail bites are apparently classic cat fight wounds.

Keep an eye on it after it looks like it has healed - bite punctures have a nasty tendency to turn into abscesses, as cat skin heals over the wound, trapping in the bad humours.
When they burst, it's like an explosion in an strawberry and orange blancmange factory.
A very smelly strawberry and orange blancmange factory.
Maybe get some antiseptic & clean it out every now and then.
Urgh! I know that smell :-(

Cats mouths are pretty amazing bacteria labs. Wife was bitten whilst we were trying to release the cat after her paw trapped in a pedal bin lid and it was tetanus shots and iodine a-go-go on medical advice.

That Maine coon is lovely. Proper cat, not like my scaredy cats.
Bertie pissed on my bed again last night.... with me sleeping in it..........
: /
Agree about the Maine cat...
I've got to admit I find it difficult not to laugh at a cat weeing on a sleeping person.

My old cat Pebs used to sleep on my bed (the top bunk) and climb down on to my brothers bed (the bottom bunk) and piss on him then get back onto my. Well, he said it was the cat.

Dog microchips 'to be compulsory' in England - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-17797194

• #4845
I think it's a good idea, both my cat have microchips in them.
Unless is there's a bad side to it?
-
• #4847
Nowt wrong with microchipping dogs, all my labs have had it done without even noticing, but they are a bit thick!
The problem is that a microchip only proves the identity of the dog, not the owner. Put simply, the sort of cretin who uses a dog as an offensive weapon will just claim to have sold it to 'a bloke in a pub' to avoid prosecution. It will help to identify a lost or stolen dog though.
On a happier note, meet Stella, she's a working Cocker Spaniel and will be joining the family in about 7 weeks, her eyes haven't even opened yet!

My cat James had two brothers - Bill and Ben, just learned that Bill was put down this morning. I know they are only pets, but it is a sad thing to happen.

I empathize. For me pets are never only "pets". They are part of the family and are loved and cared for accordingly. When they die there is always a grieving process.

not pets, but I just enjoyed this: http://wtfevolution.tumblr.com/
