I always have a box of lampshades to hand too, just in case.
You never know when you might need a pet collar.

4 weeks of no pets is far too long!

My sister's neighbours have started putting out bread for the birds.
Her cats have noticed this, and are now reverted to the stone killers that are at the heart of all cats.
Each morning, their kitchen floor is littered with the remains of their hunt.
Bread crumbs everywhere.

My Mum's kitten Nico
I called her Nico because she likes having photos taken of her.
Just found out she has detached retina in both eyes, she will inevitably go blind in the near future.
Anyone have experience of blind cats? We're told that if we don't move the furniture around too much she can be a happy indoor cat.

Poor thing, how sad. Is surgery not an option in Nico's case?
-
• #4234
Apparently not. Only found out today, so will still look into it.
It a very rare condition usually caused by a virus. They think she might have contracted it from the other new kitten which came 3-4 months ago.

Sorry to hear about this neu. I've had a blind cat. He was blind from birth & was able to live a very happy ( though sadly short ) life. They are incredibly adaptable creatures.

I had a cat that wend blind in old age. He was fine. He used to find his way around the house by walking up against the walls. He didn't seem to mind too much and always found his food and litter tray.

Oh neu..poor kitty :-( This is really sad...
Shinobi lost his balls today. It had to be done. We wanted to wait for Wolfie to catch up with his size and "do" them together but Baby Wolverine still looks so tiny...so as Shinobi is already 6.5 months we thought that the time has come! And now the shock comes! Wolfie is NOT tiny. That's Shinobi who is a freak! Guys,he weights 10 pounds! The rule of thumb is 1 pound per month until they reach ten pounds or full adult weight. So a 4 week old kitten should weigh about 1 pound. A 6 month old kitten should weigh around 6 pounds. Thats the average growth rate for your typical cat. But our cat is nearly twice the size he "should" be! I think we have a black panther at home...shit just got scary...;-)
Any way, next month Wolfie is going under the knife ( he is 5 months old now) -

You just inspired me to weigh Tesla, who is obviously the same age as Shinobi, she is 3.12 kg, or 6.9 lbs, considerably smaller!

Advice please.
Our small female cat Poppy is being bullied by a larger cat who seems to be insanely territorial. My wife has just seen him jump out on Poppy after seemingly hiding in our garden in a bush waiting to ambush her.
He properly chases her at every opportunity and we've seen him pin her down and really attack her and then bash his head against the catflap trying to get in to finish the job after she's got away.
What to do?

^ BareNecessities will know.
Any idea where this scary cat is coming from?

^ It's not one of mine.
^^ I could lend you an even bigger territorial cat to scare it off ;-)
Any details on the attacking cat? Male/female? Old/young looking. Do you know the owner? Is there an owner? Neutered?
Is there a specific spot that the cat hides in wait to attack Poppy? We have bits of wire fencing in front of any bushes that were being used as bird ambush spots & they cut down the casualties by a considerable amount.
Is Poppy fully grown yet? In my experience the males seem be territorial outdoors & the females more so indoors. Male & female trouble is usually of a different nature & earlier in the year.
The old water pistol tactic is always good for discouraging them a bit, without causing any harm. Never had this trouble personally as there's always been a dominant male in the household who's kept intruders at bay.

Attacking cat big but lean guessing male but youngish, no collar no idea where from as our road is 30 terraced houses with adjacent gardens.
Pops is 3 yo and dad was feral so always independent and frightened of nothing but big cat is just so violent.
Super soaker does seem like an option, anything I could add to the water like vinegar that might be super unpleasant but not toxic?

Nah, water should be enough.
Hopefully violent cat is just passing through your local area & will disappear by himself soon.
