Thanks for the kind words and sorry to hear about your cat Jogger, that's a horrible thing for you to find. I am sure she was happy when she was with you though.

In other cat related news Higg's is teething at the moment.
Her lower teeth have come out and replaced themselves, her upper teeth have come out but have not yet been replaced.
This makes her ferocious assault on your toes rather easier to bear.

How do you keep the smell of the litter tray at bay Neil?
-
• #1134
also, can anyone recommend a good/cheap vet near camberwell?
-
• #1135
Are there any cheap vets? Apart from the RSPCA? I have always suspected there is pretty rigorous price fixing going on between them.
-
• #1136
isn't there a blue cross near you?
-
• #1137
i appreciate 'cheap' will be relative but basically one's that don't take the piss in a 'saw me coming' sort of way
-
• #1138
Only way I know of to stop a litter tray from ponging is to clean it every day- and yes, even then it's sometimes going to pong.
I don't know about the vet side of things, I go to a place in Blackheath purely because I started going there when I lived in Greenwich, and the vet is a nice chap.
Pricewise I don't know, I assume he's about average.

Vet prices piss me off royally. It's a perfect example of how markets don't work. The competition should in theory keep prices down; instead they all just agree to keep prices high.

I paid £97 for Higg's first injections, and some flea control stuff. They threw in a free cat box as she was destroying the cardboard one I took her to the vet in.

my gf was trying to give her cat a deworming pill and when she got defeated she went to the closest vet. He charged her £27.50 just to give the cat a pill. that is crazy as the whole thing took 10 seconds.

The one in Herne Hill quoted £65 for injections, £40 for neutering him and £60 for her.
anyone else have an idea if that's good or bad?
-
• #1143
get a thick straw like a milkshake one,put pill in straw, hold the cat comfortably, gentley open it's mouth and fire the pill in, the close the mouth, they will swallow it

That sounds ok to me- but I have nothing to compare it too!
Why not call around a few places one lunch time?
If it's all within a tenner then go to the most convenient/cleanest one.
I'd be happy to give you lift avec le Volvo if that helps?
-
• #1145
going to do just that tomorrow, getting past due.
cheers for the offer of a lift.

I can give him the pill no problem . She was trying to do it by herself.
I have my technique as he gets the worm pills every 3 months for being an outside cat. I just put some butter on it and put it on its closed mouth while holding his head back, then put my finger on the side of his gums and that makes him start licking which makes the pill fall down his throat. works every time.Although the pea shooter technique sounds like fun.
