Take adman's and y-s's advice about the 82.8" for a novice session. My first few advanced sessions this year were fine on 46x18 (81"), which is probably around 3-5mph quicker than a novice session.
You obviously don't use a speedo.
Novice session average* speed 16-18mph
Intermediate session average* speed 22-24mph
Advance session average* speed 28mphBased on last year.
*Bunch during general efforts.

More of the A cat riders have road spec bars, only the sprinters bother with deep drop steel.
Are you implying sprinters can't be A cat :-)

Cheers all for advice.
I'll be using a pair of road drops on Saturday then.
What should I wear, since I don't have any tight stuff?

A pair of Vans, your girlfriends leggings and some RayBan Wayfarers seems quite a popular combo. Oh, and a beard helps.

TIck, cross, cross.
Oh, and another cross. :(Am I going to fail?

No beard = FAIL!

I'm using one this year.
I didn't want to exaggerate, and TBH, the difference is probably less at this time of year. Advanced sessions have been rolling around at more like 25mph, but winding up ~5-10mph for the sprint.
Either way, 46x15 is fine for a novice session, init.

And one of those v-neck t shirts that make you look androgynous.
It's bad form to have your own helmet too, use a hire one but make sure it's ill-fitting and sits at a jaunty angle on the back of your head. -

not at all... just pointing out that the A Cat endurance riders are mostly on ero style road bars. Even some sprinters are using them.
:-)
More sprinters should ride the A-Cats endurance events. I'm sure they could deliver a right kicking.

Sorry typing and not reading... fixed now.

Well, I have the all clear, no fitness to finish a lap and absolutely no mobility in my ankle, making it tricky to ride a bike.
Novice training it is!

Good news.
When is the road bike arriving? Could drag you out for a few hours in the Surrey lanes.

Maybe this is a great opportunity to relearn all the biomechanics of pedalling from scratch. You can rebuild you.
(I'm not trying to dis your previous pedalling… but probably am)

Not for a few weeks, but keen to get out and do some road miles!

Think I need to re learn the biomechanics of walking first.
Although I look kind of bionic, with the big bits of metal sticking out the side of my leg.

That's what I read. Sorry.

(I'm not trying to dis your previous pedalling… but probably am)I have heard some differing opinions on what makes good pedaling form for sprinting...

Well, I can turn pedals again, so I am gonna give the track a go on Saturday. Be interesting to see how I fair up with the nodders. :-)
