Righto, I'll keep an eye out. Probably not tomorrow though, judging by the weather... Should probably give it a miss tomorrow anyway, tried a Fizik Antares on the track last week and it's absolutely bludgeoned my gooch, you'll all be pleased to hear.

Completely off subject...
I've moved someone's Cinelli to the back of the container, as it was on my peg...they numbered, and there were no more pegs. If you speak to the guy that organizes storage, he will sort you a peg :) -

So. My employer hires the track once a fortnight for employees to get to ride in circles as a "teambuilding" exercise. The coach tonight said that all riders (including Cat A riders) will have to get an accreditation starting next year. So it sounds like that is the program that will be put in place for better track safety. That is all I know for now.

Anyone going tomorrow? Since it's the end of the training season tomorrow also will be the Tidy-Up Party including BBQ (last I heard there was one planned) for the volunteers who help clean up leaves, containers, etc. and general helpfulness to keep the place ticking over. Many hands make light work and all.

I'll stay to service hire bikes and bring my own tools
-

Rats. I couldn't stay.
Had a horrible hour yesterday. Got bit or stung by something IN THE FACE just as I moved off in a four. Totally freaked me out, hurt like fuck. Found that the first aid pack has nothing for bites or stings. Will bring some to put in there.

We fixed up so many hire bikes yesterday.
I would say circa 50.
All ready to go for next season.
There was also a manager from Evans with the new Hoy track bike.
We might see a couple of these in action next season...

Have a question for coaches about winter... who here can answer with authority? Coachouse?

Depends what the question is…

Winter is likely to be long, cold, wet and windy! RPM far more qualified than I am to answer any coaching questions.

It's about Intermediates, which I gather will continue through at 11-1 weather permitting.
I'd like to attend when I can, though I've only been riding Basic up to now. I imagine some of the coaches may know my face enough have an idea of of my (dis)abilities, can I turn up and ask to join? I'm not fast so I haven't sought to join that session before, so have no card/stamps I think I'm supposed to have. I guess I must have ridden Basic twenty or so times over the last three seasons. This season I've managed to come more regularly, have really benefitted from that and I'd like to continue over winter if possible.

Skully, I would turn up and talk to the coach running the session. I suspect it will be fine to join. Worst that happens is they say no, but I wouldn't think that likely. My recollection of last winter was the sessions were small, fewer than 30 people, across a range of abilities doing laps in a chain gang/rotation. I am not a coach (obv) so am happy to be corrected should one come along.

This is sensible advice.

Thanks pharoh/ch.

Should be fine - I've hardly ever been asked for the card and stamps. HHV take people on trust and facevalue so fingers crossed common sense prevails and no one screws that up

Anyone heading down for tomorrows chain gang? THinking I need to do more exercise now as work seems to be non stop drinking/eating at the moment
-
• #3299
Saturday's session was not dissimilar to a normal intermediates as opposed to the expected chain gang, and the coaches did a good job managing the range of abilities. Slower riders got paced on the white line, while the rest of the group did drills from pairs riding above the blue. Seemed pretty orderly to me.
