Will I EVER get to try this new surface out. Is there any point heading out there for 1pm just in case? If I go down with loads of towels will they let me dry the lines?
-
• #1830
i wasn't going anyway as I have mummy duties! Anyway, I think that I am done for the season...
Come to the pump track in haggerston Wi, I am going today with cisco. is heaps of fun -

I'm gonna head down anyway, I'm a hopeless optimistic. If anything, it's a tiny tiny ride.
Edit: Indeed, the beginners session was on. Did you see the guy messing around with his bike trackside who then went home? That was me. One of my track nuts split. That's the fourth time I've tried to get on the new track. Fucking gutted.

Yes, for those who did not leave the induction and novice session was on even if with a bit of delay...I helped out with the coaching and we even managed to get some half decent rotation in the novice session! BTW, we rode above the blue line most of time trying to avoid the lines. The closure till march seems to be confirmed though .. ((

I feel awful bad for telling people is was cancelled, when I was there for session this morning they were saying no session all day and closed until march. I thought I would be saving people a trip, so sorry.

Not your fault mate, just bloody British cycling used the wrong paint and now we can't use it over the winter because of it. Kinda felt cheated now when they said it was going to be an all-condition track! now we can to strip all the paint off and repaint with a gripper one...
-
• #1836
Look at it this way Ho, if they had used the right paint you would not be on the Lambeth 2012 calendar and become famous...) btw, do you think we will be on the october page?
-
• #1837
LOL, i think we can make it for FHM...

Thanks Cooky for giving everyone hope..) In the meantime I found out on the velodrome website that there will be a 12:30 to 14:00 "Road Bike Training" every saturday now...I am bit confused.

No Saturday training for the next few weeks. But we may be starting up again earlier than march. Keep an eye on www.hernehillvelodrome.com

For the ladies...
womens only track session being held this Sunday at Herne hill (weather permitting). Last week was awesome, Tony even kindly got the derny out for us. We can only run it if we get enough numbers so girls please come along and boys please spread the word. We cater for all abilities, the session includes a good amount of skills and fitness work so you will get a good work out what ever your level. We are so lucky to be allowed to run the session as the track is officially closed. Details are on FB.

How many do you need to make it viable? This was SO good btw - anyone worried that they can't ride a track bike, are unfit etc etc just get involved! Brilliant, brilliant time last week!
-
• #1844
I will make sure The Rollaz know,
Will there be bike hire option? -
• #1845
Yes, bikes are free to hire.
Poots - Last time 25 people or so said they were coming and about 14 turned up. Currently we only have 8 attending so it worries me that only 4 will turn up. I would like at least 12 or so signed up. If people could send onto their clubs that would be fab x
-
• #1846
Okey doke! Will wait and see what verdict is tomorrow. Fingers crossed! : )
-
• #1847
I have done another push through clubs so reckon we will go ahead x
-
• #1848
So... does this mean that the tarck is opening for saturdays intermediates through winter, or not? I am confuse.
-
• #1849
OK looking at VCL site I'm getting 'no'. Is this simply about the paint?
-
• #1850
No.
British cycling advised on paint used for lines and cote d'azur and it's just too slippery when track is damp. Whole section of bank nearest to finishing straight (leftside when you look at track) doesn't get any sun so is not drying out. Thinking is that they are going to try and repaint lines.
