Saturday intermediate training is 'controlled'. We want to encourage the intermediates, so any 'racing' will be restricted to maybe the last 3 laps of a particular session so that everyone feels that they have been involved, worked hard and had a good time (rather than having had their legs ripped off after 2 laps by some fast, experienced riders!)
All training is skills based. There is no racing. Having a safe sprint at the end of an exercise is OK, but it's not racing.

Yes, if you pass your induction. Come at 1130 to sign on, it will be busy and Induction starts at 1200.

OK, we'll maybe have safe (non racing) 3 lap sprints at the end of some exercises!

Sounds good to me.

3 lap sprints? Seems awfully long
-
• #1033
Though not a lot of point in them if the riders don't have the skills to do them safely.

No need to get hung up on terminology. The exercises will be based around the successful formula of the past x hundred years. Some exercises (which are very popular) end in a 3 lap 'dash'...just a faster pace than the exercise has been running over the previous laps. No, not racing, not a 3 lap sprint, just a faster pace to the end...and all safe.

If you win the sprint or dash (whatever you choose to call it) do you get BC points?
-
• #1036
No, it's skills training, not racing...so no winners
-
• #1037
But what about the sprinting?
-
• #1038
Ok.
So what time is the Saturday racing?

If I had the power, I'd change his name back to Dov

TBH Adam, sounds like you need to do an induction. Now, have you ever ridden fixed wheel before?
TBH I'm not sure where my track bike is... need to find it before the weekend. Might be under that pile of laundry I was supposed to pack away...
:-)
I'll pop down on Saturday. I'm not interested in racing or a hard session, it's early season... I only need to be fast at the end of July.
:-)

I'm going to wait until september to be fast*

Is it acceptable for me to arrive with my commuter bike for the induction, or does this require a fixed-wheel bike? I understand there may the possibility of borrowing a fixed-wheel bike there.

Is it acceptable for me to bring a deckchair, set my bike up on some rollers (lean it against the fence), then sit down and discuss wattbikes until things get a bit stilted, then get up and break out the chainwhip to swap a 15t for a 14t, then sit down again, then put the 15t back on, then hoik up the legs of my transparent skinsuit so the inner seams are scrunched up into my perineal border trenches, then sit down for a bit and discuss ice-cream, then start changing out my 50t ring for 51t, but drop a chainring bolt halfway through, and have to pack up and go home because I can't reach the ground due to my upper quads resisting my abs?

On a Sunday, yes. On a Saturday, not so much.
-
• #1048
Is it acceptable to just run around the track? I used to be a top level sprinter etc. [/Dov]

I'm coming down for a few laps, just to give you all a laugh... Need some 40cm B125s, anyone got some they wanna sell?

Do I have to bring my own flashy red light thing for the handlebars, or do you have hire ones that I can ignore?
What's that in hours?
There's always people who go and up the speed early in the season, those types who've been doing hard intervals since December and will strangely become "tired" and "demotivated" by June.
