Well.
I am glad I started one of the funniest threads on this place and I thank everyone for their PMs of support in what is clearly a difficult time for my forum reputation. Those who disagree with my actions are basically wrong. I am going to the pub now for a couple of pints of Guiness to try and shake off this hangover then I'm going to bounce off over priced poseurs cars all the way home.
Fixed.

It's saffron to my sensibilities.

People have certainly been cumin down hard on one side of the argument or the other.
(you can tell by this point that I've surreptitiously widened the remit to include spices)

I had a massive rant written here, as some cunt in a prius on my way home nearly saw me go straight over his bonnet by pulling out over the cycle lane but deleted it as pointless.
I have decided that that arguing with people who constantly think they are right (read - in the moral high ground all the fucking time) is pointless.
Conclusion:
- Guy in car pulled out. (WRONG)
- MikeC teaches aforementioned man a lesson by dinging car (WRONG)
- No damage was caused to either vehicle (going Mike's account)
I am a great believer learning through doing and hopefully this will make the guy look around abit more, one safer driver is a good thing.
A few people are suggesting talking to the drivers to tell them what they have done wrong in a calm fashion, but c'mon we live in London how many do you think actually care?! I am not condoning Mikes action however physical lessons are sometimes the only ones people will pay attention too.
- Guy in car pulled out. (WRONG)

Sweet Jesus... God damn car lovers are here
You are a mechanically savvy boy so I am sure you have noticed the drivers of these fabulous motors are covered in solid fucking metal. Trapped in that hunk of shit listening to the radio, air con on their fat asses, coffee in hand, windows up with a fraction of the sensory awareness a cyclist has.
How many times has a cyclist fallen asleep at the wheel, or crushed a family because he was using a lap top or driven home after an 8 hour drinking binge killing a cyclist on route, being so drunk he drove on with the man still on his bonnet!?So we all agree cars are a little… little bit more dangerous than a bicycle, we must also realise an error of judgement made in a car can have a far more devastating effect than an error made cycling.
Cyclist put up with these errors of judgements as they are far more aware of the situation, they get it wrong and they are picking there teeth up from the floor and pissing in a bag for 6 months.
The odd wake up call does them no harm, it’s not the perfect answer but I bet it felt fucking great when the last thought that went through your head was where your wife would be when she got THAT call from the hospital.
Yes I agree, there are some serious assholes driving cars, some seriously dangerous people driving cars, usually it's the same people, you're right, the cyclist is very unlikely to cause any damage to the driver.
What is missing though is that there are some very good drivers, some very bad drivers, some very good cyclists, and some very bad cyclists, my point is, us cyclists are all for equality on the roads when it comes to us getting the same amount of respect as other road users (which I agree with) but then things like this happen and it shows how hypocritical some of us are, you want to have the pros of every other road user? Fine, just make sure you share the same responsibility as them!

aren't you worried that good natured people in this town tend to get walked over?
and yes I agree with the not damaging other peoples property (though 5mph on a bike he would be hard pressed).

the problem is of course, that it has to be a two way street (sorry bad pun) motorists have to look out for us, and we have to look out for them. I think this is why this topic has been debated so hotly today (or cause its friday and no one can be arsed working) because there is no definate right answer.

Once again, from a simple thread, right or wrong, all the haters come out. It's sad, so I'm out. :(

oh do behave, the farmer's land rover is a tool, much like the van I use for work.
the sports car is only a tool on a race track.
in this case the only tool was behind the wheel.
and I'm not narrow minded just because I disagree with people driving such vehicles, it's my opinion that they are , in this modern age, unnecessary and on the whole, selfish.
got a problem with that?
ps, the taggers that have called mike a cunt and stuff ought to grow some bollocks and go say it to his face or don't bother. This forum is pretty much fucked these days, a real shame.
Some people like sports cars because they like driving, much like some people buy more expensive bikes than necessary because they enjoy cycling.
in these cases the only tools are on the saddle.
and I'm not narrow minded just because I disagree with people riding such vehicles, it's my opinion that they are , in this modern age, unnecessary and on the whole, selfish.
got a problem with that?
(I don't actually believe that last bit, i'm just playing devil's avocado)

I'm not worried at all...i get walked over all the time...but i'd still prefer to be good natured.
regarding the damage...it comes down to principles.
It's like trying to say it's ok to shoot at somebody so long as you miss.
It's not the damage done...it's the fact that he TRIED to damage it.Anyway....back to those meaty things...i'm starving!
Meanwhile back in the real world ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WaY597q5QXU

yeah, yeah..
If a lambo pulled out on you you'd wet yourself with pleasure then turn into oncoming traffic to avoid getting urine on the paintwork. -
• #548
Mick - I agree man
but you got to admit Prav is right there ;)
-
• #549
Believe it or not I hate all Lambourghinis except this:
If that pulled out on me, you'd be right, except it wouldn't be urine...
Uh oh, I posted a car pic...
This chimp posting buisness is really quite addictive...
