And, if it were road tax - how much damage to a tarmac surface does a car do vs a bike? BUT, it is not a road tax and there is no hypothecation of vehicle excise duty to the upkeep of the roads.
Actually ... cars don't do nearly as much damage as HGVs. The difference is massive.

Also, bikes dont tend to wear out roads to quite the same extent as cars. Anyway, road works are usually paid for by other sources so you cant use that argument either.
Besides, i own a car as well(2 actually) so i do pay road tax.
Bye bye troll, enjoy your fish porn.Likewise, tax is in fact being paid here good buddy...
( How do I just know he drives a Glanza...)

Car's, truck's, buses, Motorbikes/peds or anything else which pays tax to be there. Fucking freeloading bike riders.
Except that the revenue derived from vehicle excise duty on motorised vehicles only accounts for roughly two thirds of the cost of maintaining and upgrading the road network, including motorways where bicycles don't go. The rest of the cost is subsidised from other tax revenue so technically it's the motorised vehicles that are freeloading on the rest of us. By your logic, you actually owe us money. Still, to avoid potential taxable income, mines a pint, and some popcorn.
Cheers

It's on my way home so I'll drop in and see. I need to swap front wheels on my track bike (which is stored there) anyway.

Something like the cube of axle loading (and not ground pressure, as one might naively expect), isn't it?

I think there was something exponential in it, but I can't remember. Physics people, please.

I can remember reading it in a PDF doc from a civil engineering dept somewhere and being surprised enough to fire up Gnuplot, the better to gawp at the resulting graph.
