Interesting Observation (Not Really, Sorry)

In my days at UCL, King's College was euphamistically referred to as "Strand Poly". They apparently referred to "Gower Street Tech". Jolly student humour tinged with class and educational snobbery.

Clive, the reputation of UCL improved immensely when you left. I can't remember that name for it at all.

'Strand Poly' was used by LSE students, too, I think. I can't remember what King's students called the LSE.

There was always this thing going on between certain students from either institution which was a bit like the university equivalent of football supporters, which I stayed well clear of to be able to ignore it. I don't mean to insult football supporters by the comparison, by the way.

The type of people who bothered with such things in my day were the types who got involved with things like Rag Week and who bought and wore university scarves and sweat shirts and who gave a toss about University Challenge and probably attended lectures.

Personally, I played pinball. Look where it got me.
