  • That explains your fat wrists. ;)

  • Can anyone recommend a watch repair shop?

My wife recently had a crash and smashed the glass face of her watch. It belonged to her Granddad and so it would be lovely if we could get it repaired.

  • There was a place on the street at the north end of the Burlington Arcade that did them. Not sure what stock they carry though and can't remember their name.

I've got an 857 UTC that I wear all the time. I love it, it's clear, easy to read, a good size without being like a clown watch, a good weight, really accurate - especially since it was serviced, seemingly pretty tough as I drop it quite frequently and doesn't even blip most folks radars. I can't imagine buying anything else for a long time.

    B.

I think you're on about Jura, who have now relocated outside of London! Thanks for the advice on the 857. I'm leaning towards the 556 presently, simply as it's a classic and if I like Sinns in general them I can upgrade (i.e. get another!) at some point.

    I'm already earmarking a 856 i, gulp!

  • 'Dan, Alsal on the Strand seems to be doing a good job for people on here, they might do it?

  • Is this Audi sinn a good price at about 800 quid ?

  • Its a watch, yet it has the name of a car manufacturer on it. So in my book, no.

  • WHat about the Rossin Quattro ?

  • Or the Sanson De Rosa ? An Ice cream bike ? You cannot be serious!

  • And Porsche did a few watch designs for IWC (mostly shit mind...maybe one is OK)

  • Ah, perhaps I'm being snobby. Its a nice looking watch actually, but I generally don't like branding 'collaborations'.

  • Love the IWC Porsche stuff! Seems to go for a fair whack on the bay.

  • Not a fan of lugless watches at all...

  • Re Porsche. Do you mean Orfina?

  • I'm leaning towards the 556 presently,

Mmmm. Ticks all the boxes. Even the lug holes one.

I'd have a look on some of the watch forums as they do come up on occasion. I looked at the one you linked to but I liked the simplicity of the face without the chrono. And I liked the 857 bezel as I like to pretend I dive shipwrecks in my spare time.

I really don't think you'll regret buying one, if you are into them it's probably for the same reasons I was. They are a bit like Margiela was, invisible to anyone that isn't into them.

  • I would be prepared to make the occasional concession.

  • That is a nice ride. I'd feel like a dick on it, but it is pretty. Bit like a real lambo so they've nailled the brand experience.

  • and priced like a lambo....
