Nothing some tippex and a blue and red sharpie couldn't fix.
Sorry peeps, I put it on eBay. 80 watchers in the first few hours of listing and already at £200. These Steinharts seem to be pretty popular.

^Its not the same watch, the ocean 1 is a standard sub style case where as the 44 is more like a deep sea

A few of mine. Just got the 1940 Ebel pilots watch back from a service with new mainspring. It's the one at the top right.

Lovely collection, especially the center Omega and Hamilton

That ebel pilots watch, awesome. WANT. They hard/easy/expensive/cheap to obtain?
-
• #8308
^^ Thanks.
The Ebel is as rare as hen's teeth. It was one of the early 6B/159 marked RAF watches which is basically a chronometer navigator's watch, but they were re-graded as 6B/234 which I assume is because they didn't meet chronometer specs after a while in service.
The closest watch you could get for reasonable money in a similar small size, albeit with a sub-second dial would maybe be an ATP model like those by Timor and CYMA. Still WW2, but much more common.

rodabod - nice collection! Can you tell me more about the Omega to the left on the bracelet?

That's the later Omega Dynamic. Circa 1998. There's a website dedicated to them as they weren't very common. It's meant to be inspired by the '53 pilots watch which they made. Anyway, I got it for £160 posted on eBay, so couldn't say no. It's pretty much the watch I wear all the time.
The others are just ones which I've picked up here and there. I'm not really a collector, but buy watches which I like the look of now and again if they are a good price, especially if it's something which my watchmaker can bring back to life.
Oh, the other affordable and similar watch to the Ebel would be a Waltham A11. Those were issued in the USA, but also in the UK for a short while when supplies were short. There will b tonnes of them available on US eBay.

Was initally looking at this:
But then found out about this Maurice Lacroix Miros Chrono Diver COSC. Hella lot of watch: ETA 251.232 thermo compensated quartz movement. It's COSC certified and should be accurate to +/- 10 secs per year....the same movement used in some pricey Brietlings
I read at one point they'd been had for around 3/£400 BN :(

Anyone have any experience with the Swiss Military Watch Co? (SMW)
How much would the divers watch sell secondhand?

Thoughts on the Breitling Superocean?
I've a itch for a divers style watch on a rubber strap...

Different ball game but I'm loving my superdomed Armida A4 on rubber.
I'm not a fan of the Superocean but I do like the numbering.

Rodabod - where did you get that Ebel serviced, and how much was it? I have some watches that need servicing, including pre WWII.

question from a watch knob
Watch Snob,**I am a 21-year-old CEO of an international trade brokerage firm. This will be my first luxury watch purchase so I want it to be one that will stand out in the board room. I am looking to get two or three watches. I really like the color blue, but I am not sure if that goes well with luxury watches in a business environment. I am planning on spending $50,000 to $75,000 for each watch, if necessary. I would like one to be a sport/dive watch as I enjoy sporting events and diving.
**So you’re 21, the CEO of “an international trade brokerage firm,” willing to spend a quarter million dollars on watches and really like the color blue? Hmm… something tells me you’re not being honest with the Snob. You know what you deserve? You deserve nothing short of the gaudiest, cheapest and most embarrassingly gauche creation the just-paroled Jacob the Jeweler can concoct for you. Make sure it’s quartz and has lots of big, blue diamonds all over it -- it’ll go perfect with your lime-green Lamborghini, already receding hairline and Napoleon complex.

Anyone fancy a cheap Rotary as a daily wearer? Through an odd series of events I have ended up with a spare one. Black plated diver, new, in the box, the box has it's own box. You can register it for a life-time warranty ect ect
Looks identical to this, because it is this watch.
£40

I think this might be the nicest looking watch I've ever seen...
For it's type, that is.
That triple layer of: time, hour chrono and then date is niiiice.

^^^^^ I lied about being 21 but the rest is all true.

Hi, I use Tomian (it was father and son, Tom and Ian) who are in Edinburgh, though it's now just the son. He's a really honest guy who only charges you for what you need. A full rebuild with a new mainspring which he sourced for me totalled £100. He fitted a new seconds hand and sourced a slave wheel for my Omega 6B/159 and I think that was only £40 all in.
I hear about watch servicing costing much more elsewhere, so I think you need to be careful.
There's another guy in Scotland called Obsoletewatchandclockparts who has tonnes of spares and does work too. Not sure what he charges though. He sold me a really nice NOS Omega WWW dial.
