Wicked!

Well, apart from a crystal it may not need much of a restoration after all!
Lume is missing from the hands but that’s in the realm of patina.
Set the time on it yesterday and this morning it’s still correct. Date complication clicked over from 7 to 8 overnight too. Hardy little no-jewel.
Will let you know if I decide to sell it.

It’s all in pretty good condition. Not bad for something made around 1839! Just a pity it doesn’t have the name on the dial like some of them did. I gave it to my sister for her birthday on Sunday for safe keeping.

Turpin Brothers.. watch shop in Finsbury
Are you sure they weren't just a fence for their musket wielding uncle "Dick" ;-)

That's great!
I just bought some 19th century invoices from an old family owned business. These are random paid invoices for various household goods, but on named paper receipts. Always fun to see what you can find on eBay with your name on it.

I would much rather have one of the quartz 1/100th sec ones. Keep seeing them on sale here and there for five hundred and something which seems like a nice price for them.

Please do tell, what is the catchy model number for this ? Sadly, I like it, but lust has a price limit and some of their recent re-releases are just taking the Pish.
Seiko seem to have gone into overdrive on the release of new models these days - I think it will devalue the brand to we WIS's but probably brings more overall sales on the highstreets of the world.

Re the quartz ones, I'm talking about these:

What he said.
That Quartz makes the auto look even better tho.
Horrendous sub dial layout.

I like how weird it is and also how non-traditional/vintage they made it. Dunno, for some reason I just kind of dig it and its little super-spinny 1/100th sec hand

It’s a pretty new in-house automatic column wheel / vertical clutch chronograph movement (introduced a few years ago). These things are expensive to design and develop.
But Seiko pricing generally, sure. This doesn’t really feel out of line to me though. As much as I would love them to still make an affordable Speed-Timer series.

Was anyone here after a Sinn 556A? I’ve managed to find an old 656, so my 556A is up for grabs. It’s a 2017 ETA version with box and papers.

Cool story and lovely watch.
The dial looks in great condition.
