In other news. Following from the question about GMTs and my upcoming travels, I bought 2 GMTs.
Thought Id post them up so others could also enjoy them. Also this fits in with some comments in about how the thread has become only about "high end brand" drift.
These 2 are both very affordable (for us watch snobs). Both are obviously GMTs but have very different feels.
The James Brand is much more chilled but has somely pops of bright lumo yellow. Is my preferred 41mm case in titanium
The Nezumi Aviera is a wonderful teal colour with large yellow GMT skeleton hand. Is a smaller 40mm in steel but wears larger.
With them I bought and extra rubber strap for the Aviera and the Timex came with an extra strap.
The build quality on both is exceptional. But the rubber straps of the Aviera are insane. So soft and very pleasing to touch.
The 3rd watch was a random buy. As I opened the floodgates it caused me to do a drunken purchase of a San Martin cause it was cheap and I wanted to see why the quality was like. I am stunned at how good it is. Only problem is that it's small for me at 39mm which I can feel in the bracelet.

Of the 2 watches, I can't get enough of the Nazumi Aviera!
The strap changes the look of the watch from super summery fun to a more subdued week wear. I absolutely love the oversized GMT hand which is skeletonised.

Quite! I thought Cartier had cease and desisted all the 3rd parties making the quickswitch straps last time i looked. (Delugs maybe?). Please do share your strap source!
The Aviera is wicked. Is it as much of a thickboi on the wrist as it looks on the website? I always feel the same about sanmartin/sugess etc. VFM is through the roof - especially given they are using the same movements as some microbrands at 5-10 times the cost.

I didn’t have a VAT hit because I’m in the US but yeah I’ve ordered a couple of times. Once through a proxy and once from eBay. All good, zero complaints. You could probably do even better if you can buy direct and not via something like C24.

I have liked the Nezumi aesthetic for a while now. This RUF edition peaked interest...
Certainly makes you think about an alternative to Seiko at that price point.

Nice Pogue back there, always interested me but never pulled the trigger. Like that Nezumi GMT too.
My first nice watch, had it (and my son) 10 years now. Popped it on a nato for a change.

Cal 28.1 indeed (28 being a secondhand subdial), but unfortunately only signed GUB. Very niche knowledge!

PRX owners - anyone used 3rd party rubber straps? any recomendations?
I don't actually have one, but am eyeing up a tiffany blue one (unless they drop a pink dialed one in 40mm in the near future) and wouldn't mind some options if I do buy

I have blue PRX on a blue 3rd party rubber strap.
Mines from Delugs and it's great. Both the OEM bracelet and the 3rd party strap are quick change and therefore easy to swap out. colour matches the dial perfectly. Rubber and buckle are good quality too. They also do a Tiffany blue strap.
The increased versatility of the strap is worth the cost in my mind. You might also now be able to find more affordable straps out there as I got mine really early on.
(not my arm... Not hairy enough... Delugs website)They also do a neat butterfly clasp too

They did! I actually bought a strap from them before they pulled the line due to the c&d but I accidentally ordered the wrong size and had to send it back.
So as not to get boss man in trouble, I'll just say it rhymes with tiger. They're grrrrrreat too. I got 2 green ones this time but with different materials and one with black stitch and one with off white.

Thickboi it is not. It has a slightly raised crystal with a lug-to-lug of 47mm, a thickness of 12mm (13.55mm including the double domed sapphire crystal)

Very very cool. I don't suppose you have any movement photos?
Always wanted an early VEB example but I've more chance of finding a rocking horse screwing a unicorn.

I settled for what I could find.. not sure a VEB would have fit my budget so maybe that's just as well!

That really is lovely. Possibly my favourite forum watch.

Hasn't left my wrist since I got it back in March. Perfect watch for me at the moment. Still very interested in the slightly more understated Grand Seiko SBGX343 but I can't find anything similar to try on and can't afford it for a while.

Nice! You got it! Great watch
anyone have experience of buying directly from vendors in japan (e.g. via chrono24)? looks like there are some deals to be had given the weak yen (even accounting for potential 20% vat hit)
