Found another one of my Grandads old watches, a Seiko A158, complete with receipt from when he bought it on a work trip to Hong Kong in 1980.
The shop even still exists, I sent them the pic over WhatsApp and they thought it was cool to see.
Got a new battery arriving today. Will absolutely be wearing this.

Went to the Swatch store to return the Earth watch and came back with the blue Neptune which is much nicer. The lady said they had it for only 30mins and so wasn't snapped up as it's usually the first one to go.
I like it, not sure yet if I'll keep it. That velcro strap isn't the nicest.
Not the gold one of course.

Yeah it's ridiculous.
Id have cancelled but it's secured at the price at the time, and paid up deposit etc so if I cancel then ill be £500 worse off, although I will also have a watch.
-
• #77661
I'll be very surprised if they honour the price as it was last February.
It's effectively giving a £500 discount.
And they will have bought it at the new price. -

I had to wait 18 months instead of the predicted 6 months on my Colnago F&F last year and that had 2x £300 price increases inbetween ordering and delivery and they honoured the price. I had them put that in writing after the first price increase although they did take 50% deposit and provided me a supply date which they didn't deliver on so not exactly the same scenario but if I had to wait longer and then pay more for anything I would not be happy.

Perhaps they are purposefully making you wait in the hope you to cancel the deposit and purchase at the higher price?
-
• #77664
I'm kinda think they haven't been able to supply the goods within reasonable time, so they don't have the goods, and will find it hard to argue any losses incurred
-
• #77665
Bit different when they have taken your money as a deposit, should honour that price at the deposit stage!
Also chase them up as to whats going on!!
-
• #77666
When I ordered they said "secure it at this price" so will be holding them to that.
Sent them an email last night saying 'please do a google search and see it in stock at all these other retailers..." and they've emailed me back to say "oh it'll be with you in 2-4 weeks."

Have you considered listing on Reddit.com/r/watchexchange? People with a shit load of cash on there. And commission-less. Never had an issue selling on there and very rarely have I waited for more than a few days for something to sell.
Beautiful watch.
