  • Does not putting it in your home insurance count? I got my camera on home insurance that'll covered anywhere in the UK (and for a bit more, aboard).

  • Does anyone know of anyone that will insure a (valuable) watch on its own policy? I still don't have home insurance in my shared house as we just havent got around to it, and I want to cover the watch for theft until we finally sort it.

    Read ed, reeeaaaddd.

  • whoop, as you were.

Leave watch at home or somewhere safe till you get the home insurance sorted.

  • Learn Kung Fu or carry a blade

    Haha!!

  • Funny how?

  • this thread is about to become a mess too now....

    [shake head sadly]

  • Oh, sorry for the large image. I couldn't tell that it was too big from looking on my iPad, though should have read the dimensions.

    Anyway, back on topic!

  • Have picked up a NOS Olma diver with a Swiss ETA 2824 movement that I'm very happy with, I'd guesstimate at early to mid 60s, now on a period correct starp. Very elegant and simple but large for the time plus not a sub homage but a proper diver in its own right. Pics to follow.

  • Just ordered this:

  • ^ Nice, Im wearing mine today. So underrated, it gets more compliments than my Omega.

    Dieter Rams FTW!

  • Funny how?

    Tonque in cheek

  • My first Automatic watch:

    A Maurice Lacroix GMT

  • Check out Mr. Money....

    Very nice!

  • Mr Money? HA!

I am surprised actually how small in real life it is...

  • I bet all the girls say that...

  • Bazinga!

  • the keyboard in the background looks a bit 'soon'

  • hahaha

  • Vintage dive love, this Olma ETA 2824 hails from the early to mid 60s, even the strap is period correct, the lume works for a whole 30 seconds but then that's not really the point of this watch. The history of Olma is interesting, started in 1860 by a Swiss watchmaker who came from very humble beginnings - Paul Jeannin Bourquin.

It has a certain simplicity and elegance that I really enjoy, a proper oldskool diver:

  • Liking that

  • That is well tasty. Love the strap.

  • Thanks! The back is interesting, engraved with lots of info, allegedly it's waterproof (a claim that was changed to water resistant in 1970 IIRC) plus shockproof and condensation proof to 600ft or about 180 metres. Pretty impressive for well over 40 years ago.

The size is also good, not in keeping with many watches of the period, quite large for a 60s watch.
