The design of the Smiths is lovely. There are probably less of those around then all the 'collectable' brands. Good buy.

Thanks. I really like the subtle variations in design - I’ve got about 15 different Smiths watches now, but this is something a bit different. Apparently the only automatic movement ever completely made in the UK.

wow, it's a long way from where they are today

Ooo I like that!
Love a good super compressor

Totally. I think the brand is just sold under licence - nothing to do with the original Cheltenham outfit that made watches in the 1940s-1960s. This is the movement inside my watch.

Set DST to auto.. the joys of GShock

Hermes have a stake in Vaucher. IMO they are a relative bargain atmo. Still trying to convince myself that the titanium slim is a worthy use of man jazz funds.

Set DST to auto
How?
I have on or off.

I really like the look of these but with the black sunburst dial..

There are different levels of DST in G-Shocks:
- None
- Manually on or off only
- On / Off / Automatic settings
The latter feature is usually only on the more modern / higher end modules - rule of thumb is if it has Bluetooth, it'll have auto DST. Solar/radio sync 5610s also have the option of auto DST.

I've got an automatic watch that I'd like to get serviced / repaired.
Any reccs. in London or a person / company further afield worth posting it out to? TIA

Alsals?
Used to be ForumApproved for most watch repairs.
Bang opposite Royal Courts of Justice, make of that what you will. -

Depends what it is. Alsal on the Strand come recommended but I wouldn't take anything too fancy there.
Mitka for older/more interesting stuff. Watch Atelier for modern Swiss stuff, or take it to an AD.

I like those.
Would wear any of the colours. -

There's this guy in Brentford who seem worth a try?
Haven't used it yet, planning to service my Turtle with him
UPDATE, forgot to add the link to his website:

While flying around in Taormina, I’ve tried on this vintage 18k gold Longines, apparently from the 50’s

Limited edition and under 300 per colour sadly, but under £300 a pop is not too expensive.

I do like those, how do you find it?
It just sets it an hour forward or not, easier than changing the time directly
