Chap on Antiques Road show brought this in the 1960’s for 640 shillings (£32 approx).

I think they said it was a 5521, now worth £20k+…..buy one a year for your pension???

But I mean, it’s increased in value by 625 times. So even if you buy a £10k watch - what is the value when you sell in 40 odd years….

This logic is why everyone is enthusiastically overpaying for Rolexes. The value can only rise and there have definitely never been times where the bottom has fallen out of the vintage watch/guitar/car markets!

I'd prefer it if they focussed on making the original ones more widely available first rather than just playing the hype market.

I would totally agree! But then again why would they care about the supply, when they can increase the demand and waiting list.
