For sure my next watch. When I make bonus next :) unless I decide a 3T cockpit is more essential.
Do you think it would work with a leather strap as well as the black bracelet?Gold Rolex's are definitely ballin'
If you're going to get an ocean one, make sure you get the ceramic bezel. So much more durable than the aluminium one that comes as standard!!

I have this 1957 Rodina 1MChZ Automatic watch for sale. Looking for £40, collected from either Hackney Road, or White City.
I've had it for a few years, during which it has always run well.
Case measures around 34mm without the crown.

I've decided it's time to add something a bit more dressy to my Orange Monster and am on the lookout for a new watch.
After some time looking I'm pretty taken with the 50s & 60s Seamasters, as it seems a few others on here are. So far as I can see, they go for about £200-£500 on ebay so a fair price range.
I know sod all about them though and obviously as I'll be buying second hand I want to try and get to know a bit more. Any suggestions for resources where you can get an idea of how the originals/well maintained models should look? What movements, etc.
I've seen a few on ebay where it looks like the dial has been replaced. Is it the case that that this could be done with original/official replacements or will it be a replica.
Any tips in general on buying from ebay other than the obvious re: feedback, if it's too good to be true it probably is, etc.
Services seem to be about £200-300, is this just a clean, reassembly & polish or do worn parts get replaced, etc?
I'm not dead set on the Seamaster so any alternative suggestions also gratefully received.
Cheers

Just read about them, and get familiar with how various models look, so you can look out for wrong dials, crowns, hands, etc.
I personally wouldn't bother with shops, or people who buy watches to clean and sell, just because of the price. Get a model you like which is all original, and the seller claims is running strongly (ie. doesn't ever stop intermittantly).
Avoid re-dials and watches that have spent time in India, as they seem to have a habit of performing botch-jobs on watches and making franken watches (watches made from many old broken watches).
Services shouldn't cost that much in my opinion. I think my watchmaker in Edinburgh charges somewhere in the region of £100 - £150 for a full clean and rebuild for an auto Omega.

Coppi - I really like a Zenith on a leather strap like those first two you posted.

Just bought one of these for everyday as wanted a chrono rather than the non-chrono I'm currently using. Now, what to do for a strap. Nato or something else??? The metal bracelet has to go. I no likey.

Rally strap?

Possibly. Not with those weird big holes though.
He'll sell his Everton shirt and match day programme collection before he sells that.
