Fair. I'd add 1500/15000s to your list then, unless you really don't want a date?
Also 5500. In production forever so there's a bajillion of them floating around.

If I were in your situation, I’d wait, keep saving and get the Explorer 1. It feels like the watch you really want, the Air-King really is very similar to the Speedking other than size. Some early Air-King-Date’s are 35mm btw if every mm counts…

Lovely, have you considered any of the old Tudor offerings in 34mm?
-
• #68231
Don’t necessarily want anything vintage. Automatic would be preferable. Want to be able to wear it daily and it be a bit bash proof/ not be acrylic glass

Do you want to stick with Rolex?
-
• #68233
Yeah, I’m inclined to agree with this. I read this as Explorer II for some reason.
Have you seen how much they’ve come down in price? On this side of the Atlantic they’re selling for $5500-5999 all day long.
Edit: to clarify, I mean 14270 and 114270s.

yeah this is good advice. Would be good to find a shop with a large second hand offering as never tried a 34mm airking on. Have tried on a 36mm explorer but one of the newer ones

think so. Tudor an option, but not sure what they did in the 90s/00s. Will look into it

Explorer 1s still expensive in the UK.
Found a 14010 and 14010m and these aren't too far away from that explorer 1 price if they come down in the UK. I would expect one to be a bit less than that hopefully.... maybe 3k14010/14010m very similar, the 'm' has the 3130 movement vs the 3000 but both look solid

That snowflake is just insanely nice. I wonder if I could be a 1 watch guy with that. Stunning…

It's too good isn't it? I dunno about 1 watch but that and a square g shock and I think I'd be happy.

I'm probably way off the mark but what about a 36mm Smiths Everest from timefactors?
And here is the 34mm Tudor I wear daily, purchased for well under a grand, a full service is about £200 - so far so good

@PawG @TRA thanks mates, the blue flake is a good one, loving every aspect of it..
The only thing is, even if it has been pressure tested and joints replaced, I don’t wanna risk a water damage (no sea bath etc) because replacement parts for dial/hands are hard to find and expensive..
So doesn’t really work as a one watch for me, where any 5/6 digit sub can do the job..
As an everyday/noneedtocare piece I use a blue BB58 which is a hell of watche IMO..
Few close up
So doesn’t work

On the 34mm oyster case chat, what do you guys think about this one?
Tried the Tudor heritage 36 recently, was underwhelmed by the black and the silver was somehow too flashy.
But I somehow want a sports Tudor, and
This is local, box and papers, the combo of explorer style dial and date window is fun.
And 34 looks good on my wrist.

I like the 34mm - 36mm Tudors. Haven't seen this configuration of ranger style hands and numerals though. Ive always been tempted by the asian only releases, discontinued but still about, but theres nobody close to me that ever has one to try on as some people have mixed feedback on the bracelets.

Love those. Small rose too. Class.

• #68245
That looks like something you get bored of very quickly imo
-
• #68246
What year is that from? That looks lovely and imo much nicer than the modern 36 equivalent

It's a funny combo, out exploring but still important to know which day it is.
If it wasn't for the box and papers and locally the strangeness would put me off.@kjlem you could say this about all the oyster case varieties? But yes, it's not exactly the most sparkly example.
@bobble papers are from '99.
Way better than the ranger, I agree. -

Damn… I can offer the Pelagos 39 and a bike fit as a trade 👀 just let me know when

Like this - the shortening of the lugs compared to the usual khaki field auto will make this wear much better too...
Prefer explorer 1s to datejusts, 14270/114270, but these are really expensive now. I’d wear a 34 watch daily easily even with my wrist and being super tall.
I like the turned bezels which is why I didn’t shout a 14000/14000m.
