Why not here in particular over any other watch? I like mech, I like the sweep. Shrugs

I'm guessing a tidal complication would have some mechanical overheads.

Can any resident Omega nerd help me identify this ref?
It was a gift from my dad to my granddad who left it to me when he died. I of course fucking lost it, I think when I went away for a wedding I left it in a hotel room like a fucking idiot. I don't necessarily just want to replace it, but it would be nice to know what it was.

Because it's a cheap, functional watch and not jewellery. No doubt there are outliers, but I can't think of a situation where mech. is objectively better than quartz.
Mech. satisfies subjective criteria (and nothing wrong with that), which I don't think are relevant to Timex.
I like it (unlike the Pan-Am crap), but they also churn-out Ali Express level Tudor & Omega knock-offs, so I couldn't buy into any attempt to "up-value" them.

It's just another hand and simple gear train, whether for mech or quartz.

Longevity (if well made in the first place), repairability, resistance to extreme cold.

This can come in both silver or gold cap, and I think yours looks like gold cap? Anyway, I think you're looking for a 166.0209 :) The only thing that doesn't add up is Omega says it came on strap only, not bracelet, so I'm not sure if your bracelet was original to the watch. But that ref does match your watch perfectly if you look at the examples on C24, down to the black material in the hands.

What he says ^
I think the bracelet looks retrofitted. -

Amazing! Thanks both.
Your bracelet theories sound plausible, on C24 none of them have matching bracelets so could be that dealers offered bracelets at the shop at point of buying?
My dad would have bought it in Saudi as he worked there at the time, hence why he could afford to buy his dad an Omega as a gift, I'll ask him when I've worked up the courage to tell him I can't find it anywhere.

Is anyone on here cash rich at the moment?!
If so, I'm regretfully selling two nice Speedmasters:
- Omega Speedmaster FOIS (Discontinued 2012 ltd edition)
- Omega Speedmaster Mark 2 (Rio Olympics 2016 ltd edition)
I'd happily price them well below Chrono24 for anyone on LFGSS...

I'm obsessed. On strap before I can get to the watch shop to have the bracelet resized. Photos don't do this justice. It's really nicely finished. Dial furniture is good. Date window is really lovely. I didn't know if I'd like this but it's the first watch I've had in forever where I've immediately loved it straight outta the box.

Not handled those Watch before, is that closer to SKX013 in sizes or the SKX007?

They are 40mm so halfway between the two. But they also look a bit different because of the bezel.

It's cool. Very strong 70s/80s Seiko 5 vibes with the date window especially.

Bah, this has made me get my SRPE back out of its box where it had been sat waiting to be sold, and I'm liking it again.

New one for "want" list.
Speedmaster 125
More money than I currently have, but certainly in the "almost affordable" category (if the Christmas bonus is generous and the crypto junk I have hits the moon) -
• #67897
Love it. It’s like a 70s TV. Similar thickness too.

Oh yes. Looks similar to the Eterna KonTiki 20 Ref. 633.1003.41 I will have to buy if I find a good one. They really are jewellery.
Unfortunately hard to find.
