  • I sometimes wonder why a young Manhattan-dweller, who collects vintage watches and cars, and counts several world famous celebrities amongst his close friends, attracts such salty reactions on the internet.

  • You forgot "former banker"

  • I'll certainly keep you in the loop, and yes pop in when we open gonna have a bar in store to chew the fat with peeps.
AD wise , only having one brand but will be doing a lot of preowned and vintage .

  • @regal I really fancy another GS… that 44GS case looks absolutely fabulous. Would only look at quartz though as it’s nice and thin.

@ejay2.0 good luck although I’m sure you won’t need it. All the best 👍

Got this canvas strap on some cheap deployment clasp - send me your address and I’ll post it to you - first come, first served.

  • Should’ve mentioned… it’s 20mm width 👍

  • That pink dial 44GS is manual wind (same calibre as my SBGW267) so it’s 11.6mm tall. Only 0.5mm thicker than the quartz models. It’s plenty thin enough.

The only thing “wrong” with it is that they’ve made the case profile rounded between the lugs for a conventional bracelet end link. The “true” original 44GS case has a straight case profile between the lugs. Like they did on the SBGW047 reissue from 2013.

  • Well spotted. Talking about straight case profile, VFA GS from @inchpincher is my favourite forum watch.

  • The blue BB58 works even more on nato IMO, can’t fault it..

  • I agree 👌
It does look better with less lighting though, as per your picture.

  • Good one mate 🤘🏽

Anyway it need to be seen in the flesh as picture don’t do it justice, the way the light plays with that blue bezel, the textured dial, white gold surround and doomed sapphire is insane..

    It’s just soo good

  • Whilst we're on these i picked this up today and waiting for a price on the official gold stripe nato otherwise but if its OTT I'll be after recommendations for a plain black one

  • I really like that a lot. Very much of the 5508 homage in my eyes . As a vintage omega fanboy not really in the market, but definitely the list..

  • I think these are pretty hard to beat for the money and about 15% the current asking price for a used 5508 🤯

  • Omega boutique had one of the new ‘57 Speedmasters in and, unsurprisingly, I have opinions about it.

    Positives:

    • Great movement - looks great, feels great.
    • The bracelet is the best I've ever seen on an Omega, hands down. Top drawer. Really smooth and expensive feeling and a very nice clasp with the push button microadjust.

    Negatives:

    • Case is overbuffed with not-great brushing and distorted surfaces - much worse case finishing than my FOIS
    • Fauxtina, obviously
    • Laser engraved bezel markings are too light
    • Chrono seconds hand and the date were both misaligned

Nice watch with some real standout aspects (especially that bracelet), let down by some poor QC and finishing.

  • Natural lighting really lets you down here. Needs to be taken from under some stairs with a coloured fluorescent tube overhead.

  • ah yeah through a window reflecting some light too

  • it's so shiny it reminds me the massive ones your local Turkish barber wears, the one with the bracelet that's way too long.

  • That not a real speedy ..
I tried on the trilogy version when they came out and apart from the bracelet I really liked it; surely a good investment . I bought the sea master 300 trilogy in th end , which I then swapped for the Railmaster trilogy .

  • Trilogy? Trilogy? Trilogy?

  • I had to make it clear :) As much as I am not a Rolex fanboy, you have to give it to them in keeping things simple ..

  • You have to say Trilogy to be clear which version! They were much better than all the regular versions. The Speedmaster is probably the best ‘57 reissue they’ve done, and I am a big fan of the (Trilogy) Railmaster. I do wish they’d have gone a bit easier on the brown lume though.

  • Not an authentic heritage reissue Speedy but I think it’s totally valid as a modern take on the basic ‘57 design language.

  • According to a guy at the B&R boutique in Burlington Arcade, the market has had a bit of a slump in the last 2 weeks or so. He thinks people have been selling their watches at the peak and putting their money into property. So I've missed the best moment for selling my Hydromax. (Which I bought before I became poor.)
