Rolex doesn't quite do it for me. They should because they are lovely, but they dont. They've always felt like a safe option, rather than an inspiring one. For equivalent utility I prefer the look of Bremont, Bell & Ross, Schofield. For aspirational (read unaffordable), I like MB&F, Urwek, Richard Mille.

Do let me know if you can't live with it. Unfortunately I am the guy who ticks the "yellow calipers" option...

Not a fan of those Milgauss's, they look like a snidey 'Fossil' or some shit
That wonky second hand is wank, better suited to a Swatch

Now I think I like it a little more.

Are you gonna grass me up for not liking it?

You're not far off. I remember a mid-80s Swatch that had a luminous transparent plastic green second hand in the shape of a lightning bolt.

you'll be needing a nice black with orange stitched strap then :)

I'm afraid they don't do it for me either. Probably because they used to be seen most regularly on the hairy arms of self-made builders as they drove their ropey old brown Silver Shadows.
They made some lovely looking watches in the 30s-50s, but seem to have forgotten all that heritage and just knock out Oyster after Oyster. Boring.
There is one exception, in that I do like them PVD black, so at some point I may buy a Steinhart to scratch that itch.

What's wrong with that?

I have already lined up what I want next: an IWC Mark IV
Beaut. This is on my shortlist too. Would love one with a light or silver dial.

This looks great here.
For some reason I have too. Seeing as this is the Rolex page I'll come clean.
I have had for a long time a 1002, built in 1973 but not bought until 1981;
as well as a 1970 Explorer that was my father's;
and to add bling to my life, and to waste a large refund not fixing the house, I picked up this from a dealer in Basingstoke ten days ago;
I'm still a bit uncertain about it. It looks like the sort of watch worn by a Porsche Cayenne driver who ticked the "yellow calipers" option.
With the standard black face, and an unstylised second hand it would be better. It wouldn't make it smaller (it's massive compared to the older models) but it wouldn't be borderline gaudy.
One of the original models is much nicer. There's one on ebay right now, with a $40,000 price tag;
My refund wasn't big enough...
