  • Forum watch day... I'm finding it quite squeaky if that makes sense?! anyone else noticed that?

  • Yes, I think it's the different type of resin they have to use for the see-through straps. It's a bit more… jelly-ish…? and it squeaks a bit when it rubs against the case.

  • Nailed it, that's exactly it. Wonder whether there's any kind of balm/lubricant that would help but that wouldn't turn the see-through yellow or opaque?

  • Very good indeed

  • Hope everyone is doing well

  • My local T.H. Baker is closing down and offering decent discounts on what must be their less popular models. Worth a look incase there's something you've been eyeing up already. Hefty discounts on the Montblanc, Bremont and Longines especially

  • Like this from that selection:

  • Not bad at around 30% off that Oris
They've got 50% off all diamond jewellery which I'm just browsing for mothers day presents

  • Such a shame to see retail coming to an end.

Dog eat dog out there on the high street though.

Now more than ever in such a polarised world.

  • Back for another nose at WoS’s “for exhibition only” stock.

Loved the green OP, really didn’t like the Explorer. The Explorer has a more “cut in” case shape and a narrower bracelet, and I think it messes with the proportions. Also thought the dial looked cheaper than the OP.

So there's no truth in the rumour that the do-not-sell watches have no movements?

  • These were very much running.

  • Do you think some of the authorised dealers are quietly selling exhibition-only stock at inflated prices? It must be very tempting. Do the manufacturers police this?

  • Rolex don’t stand for their watches being sold above retail, they’re very clear on that and any AD doing that risks having their status withdrawn (ie, it’s not remotely worth the risk). But they let the ADs manage their own allocation, so what happens is the current situation of “buy these three other watches and we’ll let you purchase a GMT/Sub”.

  • I don’t get the Explorer when you have the OP.

  • its the ones sent out on shoots that don’t (from Rolex) the GMT i had to shoot was non working and had fixed hands.
off the top of my head i can’t remember any other watches that were dummy models though there might have been (i have shot too many to remember)

  • Oohhh… might be late to this, but Antiques Roadshow worth a catch up on iPlayer. Final 5-10 minutes for Speedmaster content.
