  • I really like this watch. Ping me if you are moving it on.

  • Who makes the white label dive watches? Lots of small dive brands from the past and present seem to have the same watch, e.g. this one https://olympicwatch.com/products/dv-28534 Are they all Seikos?

  • Low end knock-offs of citizen

  • Chinese NY sale on the Helson website again, just bought this 38mm one for my dad because I enjoy mine so much.

  • I have so much of that furniture. Stinks to high heaven.

  • I’m still annoyed I miss this.

  • Saw this and thought it look real nice with that strap.

  • Found a 2021 moon watch on bracelet,1861 hesalite locally to me. Condition is apparently 5/5 with 4 years warranty left. Price is £4520 - is that a good price?

  • They still come up for around £3.5-3.6 in the UK. I don’t think the value on these will go as high as £4.5 in the next couple of years. There were A LOT of them made. Great watch and a classic for sure, but remember when you could get them barely used for £2500-2750 not that long ago…

  • That does work.

  • New 6R-based King Seikos look alright, 37mm, five different colours, a case with actual sharp edges, bit thick compared to the really nice reissue they did last year (?) though.

  • Thanks that’s super helpful. I think I could swallow 4G if it really is great condition. Otherwise might as well pony up for the 3861 but then I am not into the new bracelet (would get a forstner flat link) and I prefer the flat dial.

  • Does anyone know what the strap is?

  • Bracelet any good you think?

Seems strong money compared to the new old Alpinists?

  • It’s a lot of money for sure, once again they’re really pushing the pricing. Even as a fanboi I think it’s a stretch. From the pics it looks like the additional cost is mostly in the case finishing and the bracelet, both of which certainly look like a big step up from the Alpinist, but it’s impossible to tell by how much without seeing it in the metal.

For that money I would expect a vastly better clasp than they usually do, but I’d be surprised if that was the case.

  • The end links are shocking for that money

  • Maybe, it's a bit difficult to tell. It's another typical Seiko weak point though. Looking at the angled shot of the black dial one, they definitely don't conform to the lug shape as well as they might.

  • Meh, there's a bunch of 6r cocktails for <£500.

  • Was thinking more about how they connect with the case

  • I've seen worse from Seiko. They like to leave them a bit loose so the owner can swap them out easily. Another one of those Seiko things.

  • Yeah, this is the crazy price bumping that they've been pursuing the past 3-5 years.

So the 300m Marinemaster was a £1500 watch with an 8L35 not that long ago. That movement (great movement by the way) is now in the SLAs, higher end Willards, etc, which are £3-4k+. At that time the 6R movements really topped out at around £800 in the top end of the Prospex line. So both of those upper figures have basically doubled.

Movements aren't everything of course, but the 6R series is not something that has ever felt to me like it belongs in a £1500 watch. Especially because they still aren't adjusting them at the factory. This is NOMOS money.

The case on the KSK looks a lot better than the cocktail watches though, FWIW.

  • Seems they offer some quite nice straps as well, at least in Japan. And I must say the cherry ("plum" they call it) red with the black strap is… rather nice.

  • They look shit to me. Plus the the "Seiko, King Seiko" it's the same as a Ferrari la Ferrari... The case may be sharp but the lugs look out of proportion.
