You want the moon on a stick, don't you

Oh, and here's a great insta account 'Horology Ancienne'. Father and son Patek collectors, insane pieces.

Also anyone got thoughts on the Baltic MR01 which launches tomorrow? I quite like it
Quite pretty, except that its only in a 36mm

• #60655
I like the sub dial
-
• #60656
Like. But 36mm is too small. 39/40mm would be great

Skyrocketed= maintained the same trajectory as the previous 4 or so years?

I am really happy that they didn't keep it a Limited Edition because it's Baltic's best looking watch by far IMO.

Not convinced by the off-center small second. Ah well.

Counterpoint: I think it's excellent. I really like the way it sits between the shapes of the 6 and 9.

Just from pics. You can see that the brushing is ok but the polishing and buffing is not particularly carefully done. Wobbly reflections and soft edges.
Edit: I think itâs perfectly fine for the price, to be clear, especially considering the detail on the dial, and I donât think it spoils the watch.

Zenith date windows?
-
• #60669
Ah ok fair enough - I think I can live with that. I think for the price itâs an interesting and rather lovely little watch. Also nice to have something in a smaller size

But thatâs rotating something that you have to read. Itâs not asymmetry that bothers me, with the rotate-a-dates itâs the way theyâre trying to hide the date in plain sight in a really dumb way. Seiko and GS have some shockers for that.
For me, the date on the A384 and their other vintage designs (eg that new Defy vintage revival) is actually pretty well executed, all things considered. They work the window into the rest of the dial quite well. Still donât like a rotated date but there are worse offenders than Zenith.

Totally, go for it, I think it looks great. Iâd be tempted myself but [opens wallet and moths fly out]

Most of it isnât really fonts. Itâs lettering that has been hand-rendered originally.
So if you look at the tachy scale starting at the top and read it anti-clockwise, you can see the numerals gradually getting smaller and narrower as they go to three digits and get packed closer together. But the stroke (line) width that theyâre drawn with stays the same. So they donât look like they get thinner or thicker (lighter or bolder), or distorted. They stay the same âweightâ, visually, while being very flexible about how much space they take up. Thatâs why it looks nice and calm and even and not a hot mess.
Cracking watch.

You never disappoint.

• #60674
Damn I like that

Also the first quarter is dedicated pulsimeter with the tachy the other 45.
Nice glossary on the Sinn website...
OK now with breguet numbers
