The 36mm DJs / OPs have perfect proportions and the best bracelet in the world. Hard to compete with that. The hands and dial furniture on GS are undoubtedly better but their proportions and bracelets can't match Rolex (but then, neither do Omega et al IMHO). GS are probably best on a strap, certainly the ones that are based on the old case styles.
Do agree that the SBGR251 is a really nice watch, if it was 2-3mm slimmer it would be an easier sell I think.
I still kind of pine for a black dial 36 DJ on the jubilee, would be a pretty nonsensical purchase though (even if it would likely appreciate).

I'm not convinced the Rolex bracelet is markedly better (not sure about the polished centre links), but the case proportions are light years ahead.
Then again, the SBGR251 can be had new for a lot less than half the price of the Datejust.

I don't like the PCL. But Rolex end links and clasps are so much better made than anyone else's. GS bracelets are actually very nice, apart from the end links, which are merely good. Didn't mean to disparage them.

but in the flesh I wonder if it’ll look a bit naff…
any thoughts welcomed!
OK then...
IMHO all of those faux endlink straps look naff both irl and instalife. A pass through strap will probably look equally naff
Depending on the dial colour and bezel. I'd go black alligator. It's an elegant timeless watch style. The strap or bracelet should match that.

Datejust all day longgg.

Thank you, Yeah, this was my feeling as well… I’ve got a smaller Tudor on an oyster bracelet and just wanted the DJ to have a different feel, but I doubt anything will match it on an oyster… mock up during meeting boredom below
my idea that I can’t quite see in my minds eye is some kind of very pale yellow/green suede to strap to match the yellow/lime bits on the dial… which will probably look crap…
(the simple answer is I want a bubble back)

Hate to say it... but the DJ outta those has got to be the winner.

And GS has the smallest fuc*ing screws, which makes sizing the bracelet a very risky operation.

I was close to one of the big watch stores in Berlin (Wempe), and as I have been looking at black bay 36 Tudors a lot, thought I would ask if they have one.
So, there is a waiting list for those in 36 as well. Same at Bucherer.
As in maybe next year. -

Is that for the silver dial??
-
• #57188
All of them. Also thought it was because I asked for the silver, but when I was black might be nice too she said thats still unlikely this year.
Have to check Bucherer in Store, but the chat persons answer sounded like I wanted to buy a steel submariner. How nice is the blue dial black bay 36?

Yeah, weird one. I think it’s fair to call it a flop at this point. I still don’t fully understand it because I think the design is really nice and considered and the value is absolutely there as far as microbrand stuff goes (I think they should have shown the leather travel cases because they’re quality and easily worth the £200 they charge for them separately… I reckon they would be £400 if it were Hoodwinkee selling them).
Full disclosure, I have ordered the black rhodium one now so I’ll report back and also see if I can have a chat to AnOrdain about the whole thing at some point. Hope it doesn’t discourage them from diversifying away from solely doing enamel dials. But given that the (ugly imho) brown dial Model 2 runout has been announced since and sold out pretty much instantly, I guess enamel is what their customers want.

Hamilton doing a bronze field watch, looks quite good imo. Quite a jump over the steel case though.

I'd pop one of these on it and call it a day:
https://www.watchobsession.co.uk/collections/rios1931-watch-straps/products/rios1931-mittenwald-retro-organic-leather-watch-strap-in-blackThanks for posting this. I've been looking for something similar for a while. I bought it shortly after, then got a call from WO saying they noticed my delivery address is in the same town as them (Aberystwyth), and offering to drop it round directly. From reading your post to the hand-delivered parcel arriving was about 3 hours!

Tasty. That said, while I dearly love my HFM, if I was spending that much on a watch I'd like something other than comic sans for the numerals.

Ha, nice! They're good straps, aren't they. Often use a black one on my Speedmaster.

Really good!

I received the watch today about 30 mins ago. Here is my message back to Eddie.
There are a few issues with it:
- Having wound it, it does not work or start at all.
- There is clear signs of corrosion on the seconds hand.
- There is still condensation inside the watch. After 5 mins of wearing, the entire face is steamed up. This was the issue I sent it away for in the first place.
- There is a circle mark around the center of the face which looks like the hour hand has been touching the face.
I am also slightly confused that you sent a receipt of a Precista 93 PRS-18Q that I bought off you in 2018.
Eddie's response is that it worked when he sent it to me and I didn't buy the watch off him (which is clearly not an issue as a warranty is for the watch not the watch while owned by a specific person).
Very very disappointing. Let's see how this pans out. I have low expectations.

Would really like a watch with a case shape similar to this one... does anyone know any cheaper alternatives? <3000 pound or so? Doesn't have to be a chronograph. I don't the Tissot prx so much

Love the A384 design (apart from the date).
You could take a look at the Aquastar Deepstar reissue, though it's more a skin diver case than the tonneau shape (with the angled lugs):

Also 40mm ish vs the 37mm A384 case.

Did you buy the watch 2nd hand or direct from Timefactors?

2nd hand off someone on here

It's very common for warranties not to be transferable - unless it explicitly says so, I'd assume that a warranty is for the original purchaser only, as that's who had the contract with the seller.
That said, Timefactors' warranty page says:
Guarantees
[...]
All watches are guaranteed against defective workmanship for 24 months from
date of purchase and the guarantee for the first 12 months applies to the
original purchaser only. That is so clumsily phrased that you could argue they have a 24 month warranty, of which the second (and only the second) 12 month period can be transferred to another owner ...
Blue Rolex looks best to my eye…
I was wondering what the general consensus on Datejusts on straps is… I want to put mine on one as again and was considering getting some of those end link blanks to fill the gap between the curve of the case and the straight end of a strap… but in the flesh I wonder if it’ll look a bit naff… other alternatives are a single pass strap of some sort… any thoughts welcomed!
