  • That look awesome! it look like an upmarket version of a Citizen.

Wait till you see this beast, 78mm! ( Zlatoust Caliber 191-yC )

  • None of those Daytonas even touch my knock off chinese Paul Newman. #JustSayin

  • That Rainbow Daytona is an aftermarket conversion, it’s missing the diamond encrusted lugs and crown guards. Still would though. #golfclubbar

  • @DethBeard @inchpincher

John Mayer talk about raimbow’s daytona in this Talking Watches, he also shows a lot a nice watches in it..

  • The rainbow Daytona... My 5 year old daughter loves them. Asked for one for when she can read the time, which will be when she's 6 apparently. I'd better get working...

  • If I had unlimited funds I'd be all over that rainbow daytona. I love it's sheer bonkersness.

@MicroDosed™ Didn't bother looking at price tags but I'd guess £16k min. I can ask next time I pass by I'm based in the garden for work.

  • 2 very nice watches. Effortless. 😎

  • Thats some serious man bangles going on there....

    I'd still take the Tudor.

  • Like I said, the one in Hatton Garden is a conversion which isn’t surprising given the demand, I wonder if the gems are as flawless as an OG.
I believe the author of that Hodwinkee article actually owns that watch too ;)

@hacha nice stuff, I’d take the snowflake too.

  • Definitely snowflake for me too.

  • Sand sea sun

    What it was designed for.

  • Checked out an SLGH005 this morning - I have never tried a modern GS (circa 40mm and on a bracelet) that wears this well. Movement is a big step up in a regular production GS (though you do pay for it, naturally, rrp is 8500). Great watch. This with less fussy markers/hands would be a total home run and probably have me saving up.

  • undeniably stunning, bit too busy for me though, it's like the snowflake dial cranked to 11

  • Boutique lighting doesn't help, but yes, for me the dial texture is too deep.

If they put the black "Mt. Iwate" dial in it I'd be swooning. This dial, and these markers and hands in that watch…

  • Wow love the dial, but can’t stand blue hands myself. And the fixed end links could be awkward. I’ve been loving the SBGA201 recently.

  • That looks shiny. Great profile from the side, movement looks superb. Thanks for posting - I no longer desire that watch.

  • I also don't like these new hands and hour markers.

  • Case and bracelet is a delight. I like the hands and dial, suspect it would bring me joy.

  • rrp is 8500

Boy, that’s a lotta money. Agree on the case though, sits well.

  • Grand Seiko's heat-blued hands are some of the best there are. It's a very skilful manual process and they are incredibly uniform and consistent. One of the places where you can really see a GS point of differentiation from the Swiss set (along with the diamond polished dial furniture).

Not sure what you mean by fixed end links? The bracelet is typical GS, except that the lug width has gone up to 22mm and the links are fully brushed instead of having the polished bands (it is polished on the sides as usual). The lugs are drilled, as per usual with GS, so it would be easy to swap the bracelet off for a strap. There's clearly enough give in the end links, again, typical GS, they don't fit as flush as Rolex end links do, but then no-one matches Rolex there and I believe some looseness in the bracelet is how the Japanese like it.

  • Maybe so, but I don’t like blue hands.

I mean the centre section of the end link protrudes where it connects with the bracelet. Again, don’t like that. But I love the dial 🙃

  • It's a cracking watch. I've had one in my basket, a couple of times this year.

Still keen to pick one up.

  • I mean the centre section of the end link protrudes where it connects with the bracelet.

Ah, I see. I actually think it maybe contributes to how well it wears. It gets the bracelet really low onto the wrist.
