That's gorgeous but I'm after the slightly ratty, cheap version.

Rad! The only thing about Zodiac watches that I now can’t unsee, is the extra wide strap.
Edit: apparently this one is 20mm but it still looks wide to me!

Bizarrely the new movement is METAS certified, does that mean it won’t get magnetised in my workshop?

The strap at the top look wider than in the bottom bizarrely enough.

Shame they didn't upgrade the Arial while they were at it

Not a fan.

Apparently that ceramic black bay is the the first non-Omega METAS certified watch.

Finally, a black black bay.

is incredibly, incredibly fun. Really like it.
Imagine not being 12 and meaning that...
Sorry couldn't resist ;-)

• #55536
Haha I thought you might.
I just think it's very different and fun, even compared to the other bright Super Sea Wolf's.

so how does this 'buying a new watch and selling it on for more shortly afterwards' work? I don't get it but I'd like to try...

It only works with steel sports model Rolex. You won't be able to buy a steel sports Rolex new from an authorised dealer unless you also buy lots of other Rolexes that you don't want. HTH

Thanks, so I'd need to go to a dealer, put my name down/deposit for a watch, wait for it to become available, pay for it - sell it to someone for more who is not willing to wait in line... ?
Edit, you edited while I was replying... right... so it's not happening then... ah well - cheers!
-
• #55540
I'm afraid waiting in line doesn't work. The "waiting lists" are a way to fob people off.
-
• #55541
right... ok... thank you for clarifying!
-
• #55542
It also works with steel sports Patek (Nautilus / Aquanaut / 5212A), but it's the same deal.

• #55543
Basically, new watches are a terrible way to try and make a fast buck, unless you already have lots and lots of money and can maintain a preferential relationship with the authorised dealer based on that.
If you want to make money with vintage you need a vast amount of knowledge and to sink all your time into understanding what is desirable, what isn't, etc, play the long game and accept a lot of risk/uncertainty around what will and won't be collectible/desirable in the long run.

15,000 gauss
soooooo, probably no... Else the joke would die...

Re: resistance to magnetism, this is a good read:

Is this not a great way to ultimately kill your brand? No new buyers?
-
• #55547
I just realised my iPhone 12 have a magnet back
which isn’t helpful. -

Tongue in cheek btw...
Actually adds to their brand mystique. People want what they cant have.
-
• #55550
It's not that they aren't selling them, they sell more than any other watch brand, it's just that demand far outstrips supply and the majority of them go to China.
Is this like the mighty boosh "spirit of jazz"?
