Want one of these brand new - on a list at WoS. Other options?

You'll only get one from WOS if you're a mate with someone who works there (unlikely this will even get you one) or you spend regularly with them (have bought other Rolex etc). You could also do the same with a more independent / local Rolex dealer in the hope that their list is shorter / you're more memorable than the stream of people who show up at WOS.
Only other option is grey market. Be prepared for a 100-150% markup.

I would buy in a microsecond at RRP- but I suspect I will never have the opportunity.

To buy this at list price, you basically need to convince the AD to give you free money. I think dealers are offering around £13-14k for these at the moment, no questions asked.
The “standard” way is to spend at least £100-150k on stuff (maybe some watches too) with the AD and even then, you can only get one of those. Rolex games are silly.
I know from a friend 😂In my opinion there’s plenty of other brands to enjoy.
Whatever you choose, good luck 👍
Edit: bit of conversation with another dude. Just to give you a perspective.

Sick watch.

Bought 6 watches through WoS - 3 Rolex but assume this still doesn’t exactly single me out much. I spoke to the main Rolex guy in the regent St. store but he gave me similar vibes (although not as strong)

'Even as a friend I can only purchase 3 sports models a year'. Oh. So that's where they're all going. Nepotism strikes again.

100%
I know a few guys who had really good relationships with ADs (that’s different parts of the U.K, not just one AD) over the years. All the sports models were “easily” achievable, but since the Rolex prices went crazy, that’s no longer the case. It’s a silly game of jumping through hoops just to be allowed to spend your money.

"Only" ....

It really doesn’t endear you to the Brand

I'm going to Malibu tomorrow. Should I buy one of these Times Q Malibu editions for the trip? 😂

They go well with the Shell necklace you'll buy there.

The irony is that Malibu is incredibly mountainous, rugged and green. I don't think of these colours at all when I think of Malibu.

Amazing sunsets over the ocean, I guess it’s that

I like those apart from the bracelets, which are gopping!

Rolex is such a racket. Imagine buying 3 sport models a year and making £5k on a Sub, £7k on a GMT and £12k on a Daytona. There's no way those buying 3 a year are keeping them all.

Unfortunately that's exactly what Rolex wants to happen

Wow super jealous, there’s a blizzard outside where I am. I like those timex, sunset and sunrise.

We have as I'm sure you know two rolex showrooms and a list is almost irrelevant .
When you get 15 phonecalls/emails a DAY about watches you may get 3 of a year then is just about maths.
And it's not about jumping through hoops with your AD .
We sell watches to people who are loyal to us and spend with us (not just on Rolex we are a jewellers after all)
We also make sure these are people who want them to wear and not to just flip .
I don't think we have ever had a steel professional reappear on a reselling site. -

^Which is why it’s (far) more cost effective for us mere mortals to pay overs in the grey market. I paid £1,000 over list for mine, rather than £180,000/year on stuff with a Rolex AD/jeweller.
At least these shenanigans mean that my watch has increased in value since I bought it, so as long as the current (very annoying in all other ways) situation continues then paying overs doesn’t matter as you get them back plus more on top.

Ultimately it's all moot as to who "deserves" as we can't sell what we can't get ourselves.
Oh shit! Is that why everyone stopped riding bikes? To protect their Rollies?
