  • Damn, I have a lovely strap that would go well with it I reckon... Oh well.

  • Oh well, thanks for the offer, I'm going to have 4 more to chose from soon anyway.

  • Would it suit a Sinn EZM3?

  • Speaking of straps, anyone have any specific recommendations for sailcloth straps?

  • Not really... all the ones I tried were pretty stiff.

I fancy the Longines Spirit black dial, the 40mm. Anyone tried it?
Well, I really fancy an IWC mark XII-XVIII or Spitfire but don't fancy the price, so as I'm a Longines fan, I'm thinking that will do nicely.

  • Like so

That’s what I was wondering. Anyone tried the Barton one?

The lugs look rather long on that Longines but that might not be an issue for you.

  • Slightly shorter than the Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical I think, doesn't bother me at all, and actually looks nicer when worn on a NATO.

  • Just put the snooker on and Ronnie O'Sullivan is wearing what looks like a Casio bomber.
Bit of a change from the JLC I seemed to recall him wearing in the past

  • Can't speak to the Longines, but IMO the only true IWC marks are the ones with the MOD stub hand: they just look wrong with flieger sword hands.

  • Was looking at this, I like it as it’s a nice alternative to the Hamilton with more water resistance, also looked at the Oris Big Crown.

  • I like both to be honest 😬

  • That's really lovely .
Should have given me a shout , just had one in.
    Longines really strong at mo.

  • Not much discount available on these either which is odd. I can get it at around 20% off and would probably still be losing money if I want to move it on. There’s a white dial for sale (with a bracelet!) for £950 and it’s not selling. I better wait for the shops to open, so I can try one on...

    Edit: dropped to £900

  • So you buy the watch and its probably going to be your only watch purchase for the year.. then what...

  • Buy another watch to keep you occupied

  • Buy watch straps for your other watches to keep you occupied

  • Oggle other peoples new purchases and get super jealous to keep you occupied.

  • forget that you made the promise in a few months time

  • I had a Barton sailcloth strap for a short time. It became frayed around the holes and keepers within days. Comfy, but no good long term

  • The Barton one is also quite stiff. I’ve got a very lightly used one (maybe four wears) if you want to try it, 24mm in blue. I posted a picture a few months ago of it on a Magrette- wasn’t a lairy enough blue for me.

  • @TRA @underuser53929 thanks both, reckon I’ll give it a miss then. It was kind of a “what if” for the Seiko 5.

  • Watchgecko one insofar the best one (it’s what I have on my Seiko)
