You only say that because you have a sub and a speedy.
Correct.

What size is your classic Tudor Sub?

• #51385
@inchpincher - you pushed me over the edge. First watch purchase in well over a year I think. Something very 70s and very Bulova.

Quick question, if I wanted to get friendly with my local watch shop, any ideas if there's any in SW London? Or am I forced to go into Mayfair and the likes?

Ha, congrats. This thread is all about enabling.

Completely agree that a Submariner and a Speedmaster are absolute classics, maybe equivalent to a Gios Torino Super Recird and a Saronni 1982 Goodwood Colnago Master.
But there are others who could easily enter that conversation - a Ti-Raleigh, a Mapei era Colnago, a Motorola Merckx Corsa Extra, a C
celeste steel Bianchi - so is it the same with watches?(With mountain bikes, the comparators are perhaps RC100, Yo Eddy in grello and a Dolomite Attitude)
So, what apart from a Submariner and a Speedmaster would be added to the “stone cold classics” conversation?

To add to @Regal s great list,
Here is a list of the brands by prestige. This is a quick grab from Internet so watchgeeks don't foam.

Here’s a Sunday Q for y’all. It has been said that I don’t have enough colour in my collection (this is slander, I have an orange minute hand on the Squale).
What watches do you like that have a great use of colour?

I think it's enough colour, the Rolex, Speedy and the SLA could be the perfect 3 watch collection. Anything else is a bonus.

All Swatches from '82-'89
I grew up with them and it's what got me to pay attention to the detail of watches. Yes, lots of garish stuff but they were very much of their time.
That does not help your cause, but meh. Vintage Swatches were and are amazing. I will die on this hill. Fight me.
