I totally agree. But you can only tell so much from the photos. I will have more ''insight'' when I get to try them.
@ChainBreaker are you serious? I will see what they have and be in touch.

I have received a Vintage Omega Seamaster Geneve cal 565 reportedly from 1968.
Please see photos, I cannot remove the caseback currently. Crystal has Omega logo, crown has some markings on but looks quite damaged, Lugs look to be damaged/overpolished.
what I am struggling with is the minute and second hands seem to be catching the 6 o'clock marker as its too close to the dial. If you push down on the crown all the hands/date window also move up and down.
Does anything stand out as very wrong other than its needs a service/repair?

It needs a proper service , budget £300 and you might have change. Don't wind it until then. The crown looks replaced maybe. Does it have sentimental value?

It does in that it was a gift for my 35th Birthday from my girlfriend.
She was told it was freshly serviced, saw photos on movement etc. Seller was very helpful apparently.
That being said I really hope that she didn't get ripped off and if it needs to be returned and a refund requested I feel like that may be the best option. It was purchased from an online vintage watch seller with what looks to be good reviews. -

Tell me... she didn’t... request the engraving on the back?

It's up to you - it's a lovely watch and you might indeed have a newly serviced watch with a problem, in which case notify the seller asap. It's also possible it hasn't been recently serviced in which case... notify the seller asap.
You'll need to get the caseback off if you want to check yourself, or take it to a good repairer and ask them to tell you.

Maybe he's an active gardener and/or committed checkout worker.

It's hard to tell from the picture but are the small specks on the crystal or on the dial? Is the dial completely clean? Use a loupe if you have one or a magnifying glass or smth if you can

She did not

A bit of both.
I will see what the seller says. Thanks for taking the time to respond so thoroughly.

Burrells has a 20% off all non-discounted watches under £5k thing going on.
Do I want a FOIS?

After asking for watch recommendations a few pages back I've ended up with something different. Couldn't find a sword hands mid size seamaster at the right price, but did find this Stowa.... 2nd hand ,but hardly worn. Love the watch , but I'm less keen on the crocodile strap it's come with.
Was thinking of either a fine mesh bracelet, or a very or navy suede strap. Nomos do a nice 18mm bracelet too, but it's spendy. Any forum thoughts?

Yes.

Might not be what you're after but any cordovan oxblood-ish strap would look great on that. Maybe that's me trying to turn it into a Nomos but they do look good... lovely watch btw.
Something like this:

@chrismanc Suede would look great on this I think.
@Howard YES. Or a Speedy Pro :-)

Pro too big for my weedy wrists :(

These are fun. $1795. Just wish they were 38mm and not 40mm.

The pro doesn't wear as big as you'd think. Isn't the dial/bezel on these basically the same?
I discarded the idea of getting FOIS as apparently the highly polished hands like to disappear in certain conditions (and it apparently is quite often). -
• #49345
Yeah the bezel is the same, dial is the same size.
FOIS has smaller pushers / crown and lugs.
Both probably too big.
£3k saved!

I might be trying to turn it into a Nomos too ! Hadn't considered oxblood though. I reckon it'd look good
-
• #49347
Yeah, suede was my first thought, any decent brands you've come across?
-
• #49348
I just buy Geckota stuff. Looks good and I'm not worried if I ruin it.

• #49349
Thanks. They do have some nice looking straps . Just have to settle on colour ......

Its the same bezel and face. I can even say that after trying both, because the crown guards taper the case, the pro feels better on the wrist whereas the fois felt too tall.
This all over. Exactly my thoughts. OP over DJ unless you really really want the date and cyclops. But then it must have the Jubilee and fluted bezel whichll then be proper flashy and then You must really own it.
