Gah, I find myself dreaming of owning a G-Shock now. I really love that last one I posted.

The analogue ones are great I think. I'd quite like one as well.

A solar panel on the back?
-
• #4856
Nope, on the face.
Basically they have a rechargeable battery which lasts about 5 months on a single charge. The face is the solar panel and charges the battery. A few hours of strong light fully charges it... so the incremental charge from being covered and exposed only occasionally is enough to keep it fully topped up without a problem.
It automatically syncs to 6 different atomic clocks, whichever one of the 6 has the strongest signal. Side effect of this... step off a plane and it's the right time wherever you are.
Then it's your usual fare for G-Shock: boil it, freeze it, drive over it, hit it with a hammer, put it under water for hours... it just doesn't care.
Seriously... the only times I don't wear my Sinn I want to be wearing something fairly indestructible, and that G-Shock is pretty much my ideal. The indestructibility, and an analogue face.

Would G-Shocks need to be so rugged if they weren't the size of a Babybell?
I really like this. Serious.

^^^ I have one of the Casio Edifice models with the solar panel and atomic clock sync feature. It's great and has become my normal travel watch. Reasonably priced too.

I've given up on other watches. My Gshock just won't die. They're officially Object proof.

Im considering getting a baby-g. I am aware that they are the female g-shock, but i had one as a kid, and they owned.

i've got one of the solar, radio wave sync g-shocks, not analogue though, that i wear at work - it's great. I know my sinn runs 1 minute a week slow as I can set it by the g-shock. Oh and it tells me what alltitude i'm at - I know this feature is shit though as it gives me a different alltitude every day at the same location.
To be honest, spod / status anxiety issues aside i really only need a g-shock.

I had a Baby G as well as a kid, great little watch. Unbreakable.
That initial ebay auction has now been 'removed'. I think it's some bullshit. £20 for that model seemed too good to be true. I'll wait a few days then reverse payment.
I really like the look of these G-Shocks with inverted displays - are they harder to see in sunlight though?
Lower image is a DW5600MS. I like the smaller size a lot.

I have this one, reads fine. I do prefer the round face ones though

Still fancy a G-Shock as well though.

I have one of those. Love it.

Suunto make really nice watches if you're into tech.
I'm still disappointed by their decision to shun .tcx or .gpx files though. But for that fact, I'd have an Ambit. -

I have a Suunto for the bike. Has speedo with Mavic style wheel skewer and HR band which I use for spinning.

Is that a Core?
-
• #4872
Yes. Core 'Normal Black' as opposed to the 'All Black' which has a negative face or the 'Light Black' which has the same face but a different bezel.
-
• #4873
I fancy one of those as my "travelling watch".
-

I actually wanted the 'Light Black' but this one cropped up cheap in the post-christmas sales. Very happy with it so far though.
They really are one of the most rugged watches about.
