If you can get one from Harrods it looks as if you can make easy money flipping it.

Quite a common case style for 60s divers! I think the 62MAS predates those but Squale also made (& still make) cases in a very similar fashion, with the squared off lugs and flat interface with the body.
I don't know enough about vintage watches to know if the 62MAS was the pioneer for that case style or if Seiko copied a European design for their first divers watch.

62MAS comes first in my understanding (1965) and Smiths et al made similar cases (Some suggest they bought up some old stock)
This is an early Astral diver from 1968

I'm not so sure. Tudor haven't confirmed that it is a limited production model, its rumoured that it is going to go into regular productrion and the ones that have sold on eBay only went for a few hundred quid over RRP.
All heresay and circumstance for sure, but if it does appreciate in value it will be the first "rare" Black Bay to do so beyond an intial price rise due to speculators.
EDIT: In fact Tudor themselves have declined to confirm that it is a limited edition. They are numbered though so maybe one of the low numbered examples might be worth something.

I bought a supposedly unusual BB for above RRP a few years back
I liked that watch...
-

I guess , buy it because you like it and if it appreciates it’s a bonus .
Probably better buying an Amazon share no? -

Oh is RRP higher than the normal one? I assumed it was £2800 so people had made a reasonable profit @ £3400-£4000
-
• #46491
No, RRP is the same...around 3,000 euros. I saw one sell for £3,450 a few weeks ago. I'm just speculating that this one will be like the other limited BBs...selling for slightly above RRP because everybody thinks they will make money but then selling close or below RRP once everybody has realised that there are loads of them.
I know ~15% profit isn't to be sniffed at for a new release and in only a few months, but I doubt the value increase will stick. We will see in time I guess.

Not that you can buy them anyway, Harrods have a long waiting list. Interesting that neither Tudor nor Harrods say a limited number will be made.

I wouldn't recommend buying any Tudor as an investment that wasn't either an extremely good example of an MN snowflake sub, or one of the Only Watch piece uniques.
TBH I wouldn't buy any watch as an investment and I don't think many people would recommend doing so.

John Mayer had done alright hasn't he? I say that tongue in cheek, as I completely agree with what you are saying. Noone is going to make money off investing in entry level luxury watches.

There are some weird exceptions. Smiths Everests seem to sell over RRP on eBay now days :D

That's because Eddie's ordering procedures make Rolex look like Tesco! (For understandable reasons, but still...)

make Rolex look like Tesco!
including sending mine to the wrong address and leaving it to me to recover!
-
• #46498
I assumed that was what the premium was for - skipping the list and not having to go to harrods in person.
I’d like one but it’s not worth more than list for me and mint red/black/blue ones go for ~25% under RRP.
-
• #46499
That's disappointing - from my experience, and from what I've heard, Eddie's customer service is occasionally rather Yorkshireman, but he works hard to fix any major screwups.
I really want a Navigator when they're released later in the year, but I'm not holding my breath...

Black dial? They are rather smart.

Waste of time IMO.
There are 50+ different models of black bay available at the moment. Probably closer to 100 different models since the BB was launched. Even the supposedly rarer models of Black Bay aren't selling for above original RRP now days.
I think this is partly down to the fact that the supposedly rare models were actually made in larger quantities than people realised but also because Tudor have cheapened the brand a fair bit by churning out so many models.
I bought a supposedly unusual BB for above RRP a few years back and after some difficulty finding a buyer managed to sell it for a loss closer to original RRP.
