  • Fuck! Which reference is that ? The 2017 62mas (sla017)? It looks great.

  • I have more interest in the Bicompax. Sea-Gull movement, €650. The Aquascaphe is nice though, although the textured dial reminds me of Spinnakers, not in the best way.

Two or three nice colourways: https://baltic-watches.com/en/collections/bicompax-001

I like what the company is doing, there seems to be a bit of substance under the stylistic efforts.

We truly think that these days we need to act locally. This is why our
watches are assembled by hand in France, near Besançon, by
professional and experienced watchmakers. They use their expertise to
assemble, adjust and test every BALTIC watch.

I feel that's probably a bit oversold, that level of skilled labour interaction would point towards a higher end price point I would have thought. Would be glad to be disproven though.

  • Thanks, yeah, SLA017. Something of a grail watch for me.

  • Class act today

  • Those Bicompax are stunning, just wish they had a sapphire crystal like the Aquascaph. I know I'd kill the hesalite.

  • @Regal that Seiko looks so good! Getting more tempted now. Must resist

  • It's awesome. If I had that and your OP I wouldn't need any more watches.

  • Yeah... that’s what I’m hoping too. 😂

  • I think your edition is nicer than the SLA037J1, if only for the dial colour. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get it from?

Btw, after I went to look at that watch for you in the US and tried on the SBGA413, I can't get it out of my head. I still have the hope that my two watch collection will be a SBGA413 (as well as my SBGA229). They seem to be very hard to find now though.

  • Wait what they're how much! Going for almost 5 grand on chrono24! I'm out

  • Looks good!

Not sure i see the BB in it... but cool anyway

  • There are some VERY optimistic asking prices on C24. I did not pay anywhere near five grand. They are consistently changing hands for above the original list price though.

  • I did think you weren’t quite as excited as you should be about the new Seiko releases - you’ve gone and got the daddy version! Congrats - absolute banger.

  • I bought from Chrono24. It's a pretty decent example, not NOS or unworn but no significant wear & tear. Crucially for me the previous owner had apparently not used either the rubber strap or the steel bracelet, he'd had it on a nato. It was listed at a silly price, took a while to talk him down but I think he eventually realised that no-one was going to pay what he was looking for.

It's running at +3s/d, which I'm actually thrilled about given what I've heard is typical for the 8L35 (high quality movement, it's an undecorated GS 9S, but they barely adjust them - I think to avoid stepping on GS's toes).

The 8L55 movement in the SLA037 is definitely a step up. Apart from being hi-beat, it's a much newer design and well respected from what I read (still rated at -10/+15 though… come on, Seiko). Does it warrant a ~£2k increase in the list price? Probably not. TBH the value prop of the SLA017 is pretty questionable already. I would say it looks and feels special enough (the case in particular is excellent) but you really have to be into the design.

Re: the SBGA413 - I'd still really love to see one IRL. Does seem to be considered as the best of the four seasons editions.

  • Likewise on the 62mas tip (shame @Regal had to settle for a homage rather than get the real thing like us)

  • I liked the Aquascaphe - for me the hour markers and minute hands and bezel spots are a smidge too small but it’s still a looker and I’m a sucker for a sandwich. I prefer your Squale.

  • Cheers - yeah, I like midrange Seikos a lot, but in this case I realised I should just bite the bullet and get what I really wanted. If it holds its value then no regrets!

  • Not working today, trying to spend the rest of the day doing feck all so obviously need a chronograph on.

  • After a brief foray into no date watches I've had to move onto this one so I have a vague idea of what day it is

  • so I have a vague idea of what day it is

I've resorted to using this threads Friday wear as my indicator that its Friday.

    So good.

  • Missed this - banger!

  • Gets better every time, so nice. Still room in the collection for an Ed White.

    Sinn on suncream duty.
