Weird. I thought titanium. Detail says steel.
Sure my buddy got a titanium B&R Sinn.

I have a dilemma. I picked up this Omega quartz on ebay a good few years back for about £150. It was fine for a couple of years and then packed up. Alsal reckons it will probably cost a couple of hundred quid to fix which I initially said no to as that was more than what I paid for the watch.
Thinking about it though it's a watch I like to wear sometime and I may well buy another. A bit different and more convenient being a quartz.
Should I just get this one fixed rather than just buying another unknown one.

I think you answered your own question - if you like it, get it fixed.
Nice watch BTW. -

Agree totally.
You can forgive scratches much more readily if self generated .
Hard to forgive someone else scratching your timepiece .. same with the car tbf -

Au contraire, I'd be well annoyed if I bought something new and it got scratched. S/H and gets another scratch... oh well.

Why not buy a similar one which works and swap the insides
-
• #41962
It's a bit of a double edged sword
I'd rather earn my own scars, but spending 5 figures on a watch, I'd be gutted to ding it. -

Annoyed , but it’s your scratch .
Like a scar .. a story , a memory , a wound -

Is that a cal 1342? You might be able to find a cloned movement and just swap it out for cheaps if you didn't mind it being non original...
Maybe keep an eye on this auction... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Omega-Seamaster-De-Ville-1342-7j-Quartz-Movement-in-Running-Condition/254508242958?hash=item3b41df980e:g:vwMAAOSwhiJeQK2T

That’s looks fab with the black dial
-
• #41969
Class, much prefer this to the newer dial myself.

Yes, cal 1342. I pondered a donor watch but the price would be pretty similar and even with a donor movement it's a bit of an unknown quantity and I'd still have to pay to get it switched over.

Ha, ha. Not enough sunlight to show the sparkling green!
Don't think there will be much Munro climbing this weekend. 80-100mph gusts predicted on the tops. 😒

• #41972
Oops ...
don’t get me wrong I love a green dial
I had thought they did some new faces inc a cream one ? -
• #41973
Does it actually work as a compass?
-
• #41974
Ronda and various other less known manufacturers often make movements that are identical in dimension to Omega at a fraction of the price.

Maybe I only need this one watch 🤔
