Whatever they're doing, it's working. Sales up 12% in the UK alone last year.
Good point about Rolex being not for profit. Had actually forgotten about that.

No shareholders. Literally their number one concern is the long term sustainability of Rolex. It’s not in their interests (or their nature) to dramatically increase production and hike prices.
Also - Rolex prices are fine in the context of the market and the strength of the Swiss franc atmo. It’s brands like Omega and IWC whose prices are a joke. Rolex’s product development and continual improvement puts almost everyone else to shame, whatever you think of their marketing / manufacturing / etc.
All IMHO. -

Seriously disagree , I think omega quality/technology is an absolute bargain compared to Rolex .
The fit and finish is better , the presentation is better and the warranty the same . Omega service department is way ahead of Rolex as well.
Having said all that I wouldn’t want to be without Rolex as a brand in our stores for all the money in the world -

Ejay likes Omega now?!

(My opinion only - don’t want anyone to take offence.) I like the current coaxial movements a lot but the dial, case, and bracelet of an Aqua Terra or Railmaster is not close to the price-equivalent OP/DJ. The Globemaster is even worse value.

The fit and finish is better
Hahahahahahahahaha

In my opinion , at a given price point . And dealing daily with both.

I think we can all agree Grand Seiko are better value than both ;)

Here’s an end link from a Globemaster bracelet. RRP £5740. Not wanting to be a dick, I have a lot of time for Omega, but any discussion around the pricing and value of Rolex has to be in the context of what its competitors are charging for obviously much worse finishing.

Even I couldn’t get a steel sports.
I nearly bought a new non date sub 3 years ago but just couldn’t bring myself to do it . -

All the Rolex noise has actually helped put me right off the watches themselves - in the space of a year I've gone from actively looking to pick one up to not wanting to ever own one as i'd be too self-conscious about it. I know objectively Rolex make great watches and that there are nice people who own Rolex etc but to me the hysteria seems to be having the effect of attracting a type of person (or income bracket) and attention that I don't really want to be associated with. I'm sure Rolex are quaking in their boots about my loss of custom. I can only hope they're able to soldier on without me.

Agree Re Aqua Terra. Guess I was using Seamaster 300 as an example.

This pocket watch belonged to my great great grandfather. I believe it’s from before the 1st world war. It hangs on my moms wall next to the family pictures. It still works and seems to be keeping good time. Last service date: unknown (if ever)

The 300M might be the best watch they make right now, in terms of the value prop. It’s too thick but that’s not really a quality issue.

It’s much thinner than a submariner .

Is it? I thought they were both about 13.5mm

I have really small wrists and the Sub seems amazingly tall in comparison.
Will compare at work tomorrow and take pictures.
Didn't the restriction in supply happen when they relaunched Tudor? Seems pretty clear to me that they restricted supply to raise secondary prices, thereby justifying new price rises. Now they have Rolex and Tudor targeting very different customer segments by price.
